The Lakas-Kampi-CMD in the city completed its line-up after a party directorate meeting on Friday.
The city Lakas-Kampi will be fielding City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso to run for city mayor with incumbent Poblacion-2 barangay captain Glorivic De la Serna as running mate.
Re-electionist city councilors Zenaido "Djingo" Rama, Anne Mariquit Oppus and Bebiano Inting will lead 7 other aspirants for the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
VELOSO, DE LA SERNA
The Veloso-Dela Serna ticket includes former Liga ng mga Barangay president Alberta Torralba, Cogon barangay kagawad Charles Cabalit, Booy barangay kagawad Jerome Sarabia, Poblacion-3 kagawad Jose Esteban Butalid, former city kagawad Norberto "Jun' Mendez, banker Panfilo Bumaat and Greggy Gatal, a staff of Rep. Adam Relson Jala.
The entire slate will be hearing mass at 7 this morning at the St. Joseph's Cathedral with supporters before heading to the city Comelec office to file their certificates of candidacies.
Mendez, who already filed his COC last Friday will still be joining the group to submit his certificate of party nomination from Lakas-Kampi.
SACRIFICE FOR UNITY
Kagawag Rama who was ready for the vice mayoralty race instead opted to run for re-election as city lawmaker under the Veloso-dela Serna ticket.
"I did it as a sacrifice for the party to remain united," Rama said while stating that the group unites to "topple a corruption-riddled Lim administration."
Meanwhile, broadcaster Kagawad Roberto "Batchoy" Alba likewise decided not to run for city councilor.
The vocal critic to the Lim administration said it was "party unity" that made him decide to abandon his candidacy.
"What city residents are looking forward is an end to this abusive and corrupt administration," Alba stressed.
Rama joined the Lakas-Kampi after he formally resigned as member of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).
MAJORITY BLOC
The majority bloc of the Sangguniang Panlungsod identified with Mayor Dan Lim will still have to come up with its slate.
There will be at least three vacancies in the city council as two kagawads who are still eligible for reelection - Oscar Glovasa and Edgar Kapirig - will be running for congressman in the first district while Kagawad Danilo Bantugan is on his third term and is reportedly seeking a seat in the provincial board.
There has been no official announcement yet from the mayor's camp.
Incumbent kagawads who will be seeking reelection under the mayor's ticket are Kagawads Edgar Bompat, Leonides Borja, Lucio Balbin and Nerio Zamora II.
Others who are reportedly being considered by the mayor to run for city councilor are Tiptip barangay captain Marcelo Epe, Manga barangay captain Leda Saco, former city health officer Dr. Ben Galia, businessman Dennis Du and Michael Kapirig, son of city kagawad Kapirig.
According to the Chronicle source, the mayor's group will still be meeting to finalize its line-up. - Bohol Chronicle
