A Carmen councilor who is showing a keen interest to become the next president of the Philippine Councillors’ League, Bohol chapter, is reaping an overwhelming support from his own counterparts in the different Sangguniang Bayans of Bohol.
Kagawad Ramoncitoâ€Monching†Torrefranca was reported that so far his sorties in the towns to court the votes of PCL members was very encouraging.
With the PCL members’ commitment a foregone conclusion, Torrefranca was confident that if elections were made today, he is the hands down choice.
But the gutsy Carmen kagawad was not taking chances knowing that “it ain’t over ‘till it’s overâ€.
In addition to the support of the PCL led by its president Brigido “Boy†Imboy, Torrefranca was also counting the support of the Vice Mayors League of the Phils., Bohol chapter, of which he was a former member.
Before Torrefranca became a PCL member, he was a bonafide vice mayor of Carmen, hence his membership in the league of vice mayors.
The Carmen councillor was banking on the backing of vice mayors who were elected mayors in the last elections.
It was a given that mayors as always were being looked up to as support mechanism by town councillors especially in decision-making as crucial as choosing the head of their organization.
]As to the mayors whether newly-elected or re-elected, the PCL bet has already touched bases with them with their commitment also being counted.
The biggest support Torrefranca he can expect was that of Governor-elect Edgar Chatto and Vice Gov.-elect Concepcion Lim.
Except for Congressman-elect Erico Aumentado of the second district, Torrefranca has practically bagged the backing of Cong.-elect Arthur Yap of the third district and his counterpart in the first district Rene Relampagos.
