The federated Liga ng mga Barangay or the Association of Barangay Councils wanted their federated lady president Concepcion O. Lim to throw her hat in the vice-gubernatorial race come electoral exercises next year.
If she pursue, it would be a three-cornered fight in the vice-gubernatorial derby as she would be pitted against provincial administrator Tomas Abapo, Jr. and Rep. Roberto Cajes.
In a resolution approved on June 16, 2009, Liga reiterated that "the vast experience of Concepcion O. Lim in local governance fits her to become the vice governor."
Duly signed by Liga officers and members, the resolution earnestly request Gov. Erico Aumentado, Lakas-Kampi-CMD provincial party chair to consider the endorsement.
This latest twist has surfaced as confirmed by Liga vice-president Dr. Romulo Cepedoza in an interview yesterday.
Cepedoza said that the Liga officially passed a manifesto strongly endorsing Lim for vice-governor. The manifesto did not, however, mention to whom Lim wanted to be in tandem with, Cepedoza said.
At least three gubernatorial aspirants are already on the go crisscrossing the countryside. They are Vice-Gov. Julius Herrera, Rep. Edgar Chatto and movie actor Cesar Montano. They have already reportedly spoken their intention to run for the provincial highest post.
However, some Liga members did not sign yet the manifesto, Cepedoza.
They are Elenito Llorente of Balilihan; Teofredo Tongco, Catigbian; Martin Anabieza, Getafe; Justino Logronio, Buenavista; Reynaldo Salera, Clarin; Hospicio Quiao, Sagbayan; Rolando Ibale, Trinidad; and Efren Tanjay, Ubay; and Dominador Salmeron, Talibon.
Cepedoza said that those who have yet to ink the manifesto like Balilihan and Getafe have to consult first their "superiors."
Abapo has been seen together with Herrera in the distribution of provincial financial aid to barangays and other gatherings while Cajes has been "inviting" Chatto to his turf in the second district while both took a recess. And Montano also appeared in some gatherings and annual fiestas, reliable reports said.
