The Dominance of Cajes In Bohol

It's Cajes out and Cajes in at the Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation (SKPF).

This after Frances Bobbith Cajes-Auza bowed out of office - to be replaced by younger sister Jane Censoria Cajes.

Jane ran unopposed - garnering 47 out of 48 votes. SK Tagbilaran City Federation President Ramy June Alturas was a no-show at the Harbor View of the Bohol Tropics Resort during the elections Monday.

Gov. Erico Aumentado who administered her oath of office expressed pride in Cajes' win, not only because her parents are his close friends and political allies, but because Jane is a consistent dean's lister at the Assumption College in San Lorenzo Village of Makati where she is taking up Bachelor of Communications major in Advertising.

Only recently, she was awarded as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Assumption and conferred the Outstanding Student Leader Award for her academic excellence and community involvement.

Aumentado entered the Harbor View only after the whole proceedings. He was also the administering officer for the rest of the SKPF officials.

Provincial Director Rustica Mascariñas of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-Bohol) supervised the proceedings. She and Sr. Supt. Edgardo Ingking, provincial director of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) and Assistant Region 7 Director Veronico Petalcorin of the Commission on Elections comprised the Board of Election Supervisors for the exercise.

Dennis Calunia of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Tagbilaran, Assistant Bohol Schools Division Superintendent Joseph Erwin Lagura and Provincial Secretary Bonifacio Quirog comprised the panel of observers.

Following her SKPF win, Jane called on the governor to seek his support in her next aspiration - the SK national presidency.

Aumentado obliged - calling his successors Gov. Loreto Leo Ocampos of Misamis Occidental and Mayor Ramon Guico Jr. of Binalonan, Pangasinan at the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) and the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), respectively, to ask for their support.

The governor is for the retention of the SK: some people simply are born leaders and capable. But he wants to raise the minimum age to qualify.

After all, one cannot legally transact business if he or she has not reached the age of majority, which, in the Philippines, is 18 years.

Jane will celebrate her 18th birthday on January 10, 2008.

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved."
