You would think that being that powered mad, nothing will stand in the way if political ambition is the name of the game?
This is where we are going to doff our hat when two power-driven ladies whose daughters were touted as having to slug it out in the coming elections for Sangguniang Kabataan provincial federation.
Knowing Loay Mayor May Lim-Imboy as one lady who cannot take no for an answer, we were surprised that one day she appeared meek as a lamb when she was prevailed upon by an equally aggressive politician in Trinidad Mayor Judith "Baby" Cajes.
The result: the public billed as the audience of a spectacular fight to the finish of two rich scions was reduced to an innocent bystander of a so-so encounter.
Blame it to the skillful negotiating tactic of Mayor Cajes? Not at all, to our mind.
Or being the daughter of a congressman means too much firepower that the Lim-Imboys cannot match.? It cannot be that way, either.
Had a showdown was exposed to the full sunburn of a tit-for-tat spectacle, throwing the Lim-Imboy scion to the lion's den without putting up a fight is out of character for the wealthy clan. This BGlante don't think that the old rich Lim family would just sit in the sidelines and allow a certified war heiress to be bearded to her bare essentials.
Since the Lim-Imboys have the wherewithal to wage a down-the wire showdown, for God's sake, running for public office sans a fight is against the family's political religion.
So what stands in the way of a much publicized Imboy-Cajes one-n-one.
No we know that friendship which is an expensive commodity to some, is second nature to the Imboys and the Cajeses.
Believe it or not, as we said earlier knowing the character of Mayor Imboy, it would be impossible that plain friendship can shot down a well-entrenched ambition to grab the SK prized plum.
Yes, Virginia, the friendship of the two ambition-driven ladies torpedoed whatever pompous billing of a battle royale in the SK provincial federation race.
But wait, don't be discouraged with the outcome of the supposedly exciting match between the Cajes daughter and that of the mayor of Trinidad.
If plans do not miscarry, the Cajes scion may wake up one day that everything is not nice in the SK provincial federation presidency.
We have it from a good authority that the daughter of G-Hernandez Mayor Myrna Scheurs may be a power to reckon with in the SK presidency what with the backing of the Group of Ten and businessman Angelo Balili.
If this report has a ring of truth, then the Cajeses will have a real nightmare in the offing. Knowing Balili's
penchant for the underdog, the SK playing field will more or less be leveled with neither party claiming the upper hand.
Nobody knows from Adam about the Scheurs scion except that she too is a kid off the old block . But if reports from the field boosted the belief that the Scheurs daughter is supported by Cong. Adam Relson Jala, you better believe me that it's one hell of a fight.
With the built-in wealth of the Scheurs (according to reports they practically controlled the prime businesses of G-Hernandez) plus the solid support of the Group of 10, add to all this the financial muscle of Balili and Jala, what do you get?
It's foregone conclusion that the Cajeses of Trinidad will have to think twice that as far as the provincial SK federation presidency is concerned, you don't have the Torrens title as yet to claim the top plum -in a silver platter.
