Bohol Standard: Political focus is now centered at the second congressional district where internal conflict among administration party members has come to boiling point.
If Lakas members, Gov. Erico Aumentado and Trinidad mayor Judith Cajes push ahead to a collision course, opposition bets may end up victorious from the spoil. Broadcast journalist and businessman Andy Manatad is being closely watched as the best contender outside the administration camp.
Manatad, who hosts shows in the Cebu based television network channel 47 of INTV-CCTN, is running under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP).
His platform of government is founded on good governance where the efficiency of basic services will revolve. He believes that it is high time genuine good governance should be a centerpiece of politics in the second district which has been long neglected by politicians that did nothing to ease the plight of the people.
The incumbent officials have long been alleged to have corrupted their power and allegedly enriched themselves.
The people of the second district have been longing for change as they have been wanting from the care and the services of the government
He calls for transparency and accountability of government officials in using public funds for the benefit of the people. Other programs that he wants to implement once he bags a seat in Congress are: genuine agrarian reform, irrigation system, infrastructure and ports development, strengthening of the barangay justice system, improvement of the healthcare facilities, teacher’s welfare, comprehensive employment program, livelihood program for farmers and fishermen, protection of environment, installation of water facilities and assistance to senior citizens.
His platform also include development of sports and creating leadership program for the youth, protection of women and children’s rights, free education program, protection against harassment and persecution of government employees and non-political allies by politicians.
Manatad will fight for an honest crusade against graft and corruption and people empowerment through participatory democracy and the strengthening of people-based organizations and to organize people’s council in every town and barangay to maximize the people’s participation in government affairs
He also will bat for information and communication facilities through Internet and e-Mail facilities so people will have easy access to public records and information.
A native of Buenavista, Bohol and a member of prominent clans in the second district will implement a paradigm change in the way politics will become.
