Tagbilaran Mayor Dan Lim is the new vice-president for the Visayas of the League of Cities of the Philippines .
The Tagbilaran, who is now on his third term, is the League’s second highest official from the Visayas after Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia who was elected executive vice president.
The new League officials are headed by San Fernando City Mayor Oscar Rodriguez who was elected president and Caloocan Mayor Enrico Echiverri who was chosen chairman.
The election and general assembly were held in Pasay City last July 17.
Rodriguez and Echiverri, along with Lim and other newly elected officers, were members of the so-called “Reform Groupâ€.
According to the Reform Group, their victory in the League elections is a manifestation of the members for real reforms under President Benigno Aquino III.
Former League of Cities president, Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Jr. backed the winning of Rodriguez and Echiverri.
Echiverri thanked the former League president for throwing his full support to the reformist mayors.
Aside from Rodriguez, Echiverri, Leonardia and Lim, the other officers include Calapan’s Paulino Leachon, vice chairman; Candon’s Allen Singson, vice president for Luzon, Pagadian’s Samuel Co, vice president for Mindanao , and Valenzuela’s Sherwin Gatchalian, vice president for National Capital Region.
Also elected were Alaminos Mayor Hernani Braganza, secretary general; Marikina’s Del de Guzman, deputy secretary general for NCR; Cauayan’s Benjamin Dy, deputy sec-gen for Luzon; Iloilo’s Jed Patrick Mabilog, deputy sec-gen for Visayas and Davao’s Sara Duterte, deputy sec-gen for Mindanao.
The other officers were Dagupan’s Benjamin Lim, treasurer; Tagaytay’s Abraham Tolentino, auditor; Angeles’ Edgardo Pamintuan, PRO; Quezon’s Herbert Bautista, deputy PRO for NCR; Urdaneta’s Amando Gregorio IV Perez, deputy PRO for Luzon; Roxas’ Angel Alan Celino, deputy PRO for Visayas, and Tangub’s Philip Tan, deputy PRO for Mindanao.
The regional representatives are Laoag’s Michael Farinas, Region 1; Santiago’s Amelita Navarro, region 2; Palayan’s Romeo Capinpin, region 3; Calamba’s Joaquin Chipeco, region 4a; Puerto Princesa’s Edward Hagedorn, region 4b; Ligao’s Linda Gonzales, region 5; Talisay’s Eric Saratan, region 6; Bais’ Karen Villanueva, region 7; Calbayog’s Reynaldo Uy, region 8; Dipolog’s Evelyn Uy, region 9; Iligan’s Lawrence Cruz, region 10; Tagum’s Rey Uy, region 11; Gen. Santos’ Darlene Custodio, region 12; Parañaque’s Florencio Bernabe Jr., NCR; Baguio’s Mauricio Domogan, Cordillera Autonomous Region; Salic’s Fahada Panarigan, Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao; Butuan’s Ferdinand Amante Jr., CARAGA.
Given specific assignments were Tanauan’s Sonia Aquino, women’s sector representative; Isabela, Basilan’s Cherry Santos Akbas, Focal Person for Muslim Affairs; Ormoc’s Eric Codilla, Focal Person for MDG; Cadiz Patrick Escalante, Focal Person for Health; and Hagedorn, Focal Person for Environment.
