The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday dismissed the petitions of 10 party-list groups seeking to participate in the May 10, 2010 elections but were disqualified by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The groups include the controversial "Alyansa ng mga Sabungero" and FPJPM led by its president Lorenzo Cadsawan, a known supporter of the late "action king" Fernando Poe Jr.
Their petitions were dismissed for failing to comply with the requirements of the Party-list Law.
The SC also dismissed the petitions of the "Alab ng Pusong Pinoy", "ASK", "1-Ka Negosyo", "AAA Veteran", "Anak sa Pantalan", "APEX", "1Angkan" and the "Alyansa ng Sambayanang Pilipino".
Likewise dismissed was the petition of Gerardo del Mundo, a vice presidential wannabe for his failure to show that the Comelec committed a grave abuse of discretion when it disqualified him for being a nuisance candidate.
In another resolution, the SC also dismissed the petition of a certain Richard Recto who for his failure to comply with the rules.
Seeking to run for senator, Recto was declared by Comelec as a "nuisance candidate" because former senator and erstwhile National Economic Development Authority Director General Ralph Recto is again running for senator. (PNA)
