Representatives
Arthur Yap and
Erico Aumentado are among the eager beavers in the House as they were able to introduce a total of 10 bills between them within the first month in office.
Yap, who represents the third district, came out as the early topnotcher with a total of six bills filed while Aumentado of the second district posted four including one which was co-authored by Yap .
The House of Representative website did not show any bill filed at this point by Rep. Rene Relampagos of the first district.
Yap’s first bill, HB00158, seeks to promote agricultural and marine production and post-harvest mechanization by exempting from payment of the expanded value added tax the importation of agricultural and fisheries machineries and amending for this purpose section 109 of the National Internal Revenue Code.
Also filed on his first working day last July 1 was HB00159 which is “An Act Imposing a Limit on Election Campaign Contributions, Amending for the Purpose Section 95 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 881, as Amended, Otherwise Known as the Omnibus Election Code, and for Other Purposesâ€.
Yap also filed HB00161 which seeks to strengthen and redefine the powers and functions of the National Food Authority and amending Presidential Decree Nos. 4 and 1770 respectively known as the National Grains Authority act and the National Food Authority Act.
The former Agriculture secretary also filed a bill which seeks to liberalize the export of rice and other grains or related agricultural products and amending for this purpose Presidential Decree No. 4.
Another Yap bill, HB01235 seeks to protect credit card users, limiting interest rates and penalty charges and providing penalties for violations.
Yap ’s seventh bill seeks to prohibit the imposition of expiration of prepaid cards, certificates or other devices or prepayment of goods and services and providing penalties for violations.
Meanwhile, Aumentado first bill is HB00385 which is “An Act Reorganizing and Modernizing the National Bureau of Investigation, Providing Necessary Funds Therefore, and For Other Purposesâ€.
His second bill, similarly filed last July 1, seeks to establish the Second Engineering District of Bohol to be located in his hometown of Ubay and appropriating funds for it.
The third Aumentado bill provides for the conversion of the provincial roads in the town of Pres. Garcia into national roads and appropriating funds for their maintenance and improvement.
The former governor’s fourth bill seeks the conversion of the Guindulman-Anda-Candijay Road and the Candijay-Mabini-Ubay Road from provincial to national roads, and appropriating funds for their improvement and maintenance.
