The political saga of former governor is put to the test again these days after he become the object of verbal attacks from his detractors.
Likened it to a fruit-bearing mango tree which is the subject of stoning by envious neighbors.
Such is the story of the former governor who lorded over once upon a time the corridors of power in the Capitol.
Trying to make a political comeback via the first district congressional route, Relampagos is under siege after he clinched a deal with the ruling party in a coalition agreement with his Laban ng Demokratiking Pilipino. He is the official LDP-Lakas congressional hopeful of the first district.
Although still young at 46, he is already a veteran of many political skirmishes that parrying blows from opponents became part of the territory.
And this is where his mantra, you cannot put a good man down, comes in.
Vowing not to run away from a good fight, Relampagos is banking on his experience as member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, two-time vice governor and two-term governor in seeking the congressional post.
During his time as Governor, Bohol saw a dramatic improvement in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, health, education, peace and order, among others.
It was also during his stint in public service that awards and recognitions came in one after another for the province of Bohol from different sectors of society.
When he was the governor, he created a master plan for the development of Bohol EcoTourism Agro-Industrial Development. "But the game was not over yet, we want Bohol to become the prime eco-cultural-tourism-agro-industrial destination in the country today, with the balanced agro-industrialization and high regard for the care of environment, and based on that vision, we get the strategies for attaining the development of Bohol", the congressional bet said.
A loving husband to his very caring and devoted wife Imelda, and children Kristine Nicole, Kristine Louise and Juan Marcelo, Relampagos is now ready to start another chapter of his political career in public service. (EAM) - Sunday Post
