"Spoiled brats," Palace calls walk-out Congressmen
MANILA (31 August 2005) -- "Spoiled brats."
This was how Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye described the manners of Congressmen endorsing the impeachment complaint against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who walked out of the House of Representatives' justice committee hearing.
Bunye, who is also the Presidential Spokesman, said the act was a walk-out on democracy and an insult on the Filipino people since democracy triumphed in a transparent and credible manner was cast to dirt by the opposition.
The Palace official pointed out that President Arroyo followed the rules from the very start of the political exercise, taking in all the attacks and insidious machinations to undermine her person and office, and expressed expectations of the opposition doing the same.
"Fair play and statesmanship must be the hallmark of all representatives of the Filipino people - not the manner of a spoiled brat," Bunye added. (PIA-MMIO)
