Rebuild Marawi City

PIA - MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur/Mindanao Hour, July 18 – Plans and programs of the “Task Force Bangon Marawi” are now in place for the recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation of this city after the Maute group stormed here last May 23.

Key government officials from the Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Office on the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Mindanao Development Authority (MINDA), Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Office of Civil Defense (OCD) as well as the local government units of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City converged here on July 17, to present and discuss the reconstruction and rehabilitation works to be undertaken in the city.

Undersecretary Diosita Andot of OPAPP emphasized the need “to rebuild social cohesion side by side with the physical rehabilitation in the area.”

“This is different from psycho-social services for the internally displaced persons (IDPs). It is about social healing borne out of conflict,” Andot said.
