Senators Lieberman, McCain pose with Philippine President Aquino. The United States has recently supported Philippine plans to acquire more naval units and hardware from the United States to augment the Philippine Military's defensive capability.

On May 2012, the United States sold the USCGS Dallas, a Cutter-Class Frigate, to the Philippines. In 1 year, the United States has sold 2 naval ships to the Philippines, boosting the defense capability of the Philippine Navy.
