Press Release: Ormoc City Director PCOL Ramil Ramirez of Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) had a brief meeting with Ormoc City Mayor Richard I. Gomez at the City Mayor's Office (CMO), today, May 31.
The topic under discussion was the activation of three (3) additional police stations located in Brgy. Linao, Brgy. Dolores, and Brgy. Ipil, which went into effect today.
Furthermore, CD Ramirez wrote a letter to Mayor Gomez requesting logistical support for the operation of the aforementioned new police stations.
The memorandum for the newly activated aforementioned City Police Stations of Ormoc City was approved by the Regional Director, PRO 8 dated May 25, 2021, memorandum from TDPL dated January 23, 2020 and General Orders Number DPL - 18-25 dated December 27, 2019.
To recall, OCPO is made up of three (3) Police Stations that cater to 110 barangays, each with its own area of responsibility: PS1 with 64 barangays, PS2 with 20 barangays, and PS3 with 26 barangays.
Although Ormocanons enjoys and benefits from the tranquility of the city, there is still a need for three (3) more police stations given the city's vast land area, where 73 or 66.36% of the 110 barangays are considered far-flung. As a result, OCPO is having difficulty providing its services.
Prior the operations of said 3 additional police stations, Ormoc only had 3 stations located in Bgy. Cogon for PS1, Bgy. Cagbuhangin for PS2, and Bgy. Liloan for PS3.
Now, Ormoc has 6 fully-operational police stations.
