A member of the opposition urged President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III today to “get to the bottom” of Senator Panfilo Lacson’s alleged use of fake travel documents.

Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay said the Aquino administration should not condone the act “[since] a sitting senator violated the law of using fake documents.”

She said if Aquino fails to give this proper attention “then he is definitely coddling wrongful acts as long as it is done by his allies. Nasaan ngayon ang matuwid na daan?”

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Philippine consulates abroad earlier said they did not issue any travel document to Senator Panfilo Lacson.

In a letter dated March 31, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rafael Seguis told Justice Secretary Leila de Lima “the DFA’s Property Division said that Philippine Travel Document with Serial Number 34258 is still with the department and has not yet been sent out to any particular post.”

Lacson supposedly used the travel document to return back to the country after more than a year in hiding.

“The Philippine Consulates General in Hong Kong, Macau, Xiamen and Guangzhou have denied issuing a travel document to Senator Lacson,” Seguis added.

The consulates there also stressed that the travel document with the same serial number “is not within the series of Philippine Travel Documents issued to them.”

Malacañang said it will already leave the matter to the Department of Justice.

I've never seen a person who is so arrogant and full of himself than Panfilo Lacson. When told by Justice Secretary De Lima that he should explain how he got out of the country and eluded arrest, he retorted the Justice Secretary should ask the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police to explain why they were not able to find him.

There is no use reminding Lacson he is a Senator of the Republic and, as such, he should lead an example of respect for our judicial process under the new administration of his ally, Pres. Benigno Aquino III. No sense of propriety can get through his thick callouse self-righteous holier than thou self.

Living his the fantasy from reading too much spy novels, Lacson dragged people to commit the crime of helping him to elude arrest. No doubt he terrorized them for money, arm-twisted for fake documents, blackmailed for safehouses, threatened for transportation.

He is proud he was able to make a fool of the entire machinery of the government's law enforcement agencies.

I wonder what his next game plan will be when his term for senator will be ending and no longer eligible for reelection. Buy a seat in the House of Representatives?

even gregorio honasan lauded sarcastically how honasan evaded the authorities for more than a year. honasan quoted:"magaling talagang magtago kasi hindi siya nahuli. ako nahuli nila pangalawang beses pa."

what really is the truth about the murder charges against him?

in case he really is innocent, did he defy the machinery of government law enforcement because he knew he had no chance with our judicial system, despite his being a senator, as he was faced with indomitable enemies wrought by his failed friendship with erap and the force of former president gma who were after his neck?

It is immaterial that the Court of Appeals nullified the information implicating him in the murder and quashing the warant of arrest. The fact is, before the CA made that order, the complaint and warrant of arrest against him were VALID. During that PERIOD OF VALIDITY when he dodged the law enforcement authorities, HE COMMITTED ANOTHER CRIME and COMPROMISED HIS FRIENDS TO COMMIT CRIME for his selfish end. Secretary De Lima should not back down. And Pres. Aquino, if he is serious about his MATUWID NA DAAN, should not let this episode with Panfilo Lacson leave a black eye in his administration.

This is not about a grudge between Lacson and the Arroyo Administration of the past. It's way beynd that. This is about the integrity of our judicial system.
