Commission on Elections (Comelec) Regional Dir. Dennis Ausan announced that all systems go with the Comelec as the filing of Certificates of Candidacies (COCs) started Monday.
Ausan said the Comelec office opened early Monday and "everything went smoothly and peacefully."
"There were no major hitches that happened except for some several queries and clarification from the candidates whether they could file their COCs while still waiting for their Certificates of Nominations, among others," he said.
Ausan explained that the Comelec ruled that the submission of COCs must be simultaneous with the issuance of Certificates of Nominations.
He also clarified that candidates have the option to use their maiden name or surname of their husbands and that there should only be one nickname to be used except if the nickname is constituted by two or three words.
