Stop making fun of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s skin color.
This is the appeal of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), as it takes offense against administration coalition Team PNoy’s statement about color branding.
“When you say black, are you referring to the Vice President’s skin color?†UNA secretary-general Toby Tiangco said after Liberal Party (LP) said 2013 polls will be between “black and white.â€
In a statement, Tiangco said LP acting president Joseph Emilio Abaya’s declaration may be seen as a subtle reference to the Vice President’s dark complexion.
“It’s okay for us because we don’t have fair skin colors if they are now basing it on the color of the skin because the Vice President is dark that’s why it’s a battle between black and white,†Tiangco said.
“But we again appeal to the leadership of LP to go beyond the innuendoes about skin color and to stop pitting the Vice President against the President,†he said.
But Tiangco, also a campaign manager for UNA, said the administration party should decide whether it wants to refer to its coalition as the “white†party or the “yellow†party.
“The Liberal Party is apparently confused as to its color branding simply because of the confusing multi-color mix of senatorial bets in the LP coalition ticket,†he said.
Binay is one of the leaders of UNA after forming agreeing his party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP)-Laban to coalesce with former President Joseph “Erap†Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.
UNA is the only coalition who managed to field in a complete ticket that will clash against President Benigno “Noynoy†Aquino III’s bets for the senatorial elections this coming May.
