Hi all,

I've been a member of this forum more than a year ago, although I seldom post and just prefer to browse the threads in some of the subforums as a guest.

Well, I have enough incentive now to post

I am coordinating an online petition to increase the salary of public school teachers, at http://tinyurl.com/teachersalary

Reading the petition itself will not take you a minute, but here's the gist: Senate had already passed their version of a bill on this, Congress has yet to take action. So what I am doing right now is to gather 21,086 online signatures to pressure Congress to pass their concurrence bill on the matter. (21,086 would be the minimum salary of a public school teacher in 2011 if this bill will become law.)

The captcha question ("What is 9 + 2?") is there just to make sure that the form does not get hijacked by spammers - they are all around us these days.

For those who are in Dumaguete, there will be a candle lighting activity on Tuesday, I think near the wharf. (I'm based in Cebu City, so I will not be there.)

There are currently 224 signatories to the online petition. I'm sincerely requesting everyone to forward the information to their online contacts. The more signatures gathered, the better the chance that our Congressmen will take notice of this.
