Former President Joseph “Erap†Estrada is practicing his "Gangnam" moves.
This, as he gears up for his meeting with South Korean pop sensation 'Psy'.
“I want to learn it straight from him because I want to perfect it,†Estrada told Yahoo! Southeast Asia while briefly showing off his own Gangnam Style moves.
“I’m excited to meet him maybe within the week. They will be meeting us because we want to ask for their consent if we can play it in our campaign,†he added.
In an interview, the former leader confirmed talking to Psy’s handlers in the Philippines, seeking permission to use the global anthem in his campaign for his mayoral bid in Manila.
He said they are set to meet Psy’s camp about getting the rights to the hit song before they can play the official video in his campaign sortie at the official start of local campaign period on March 29.
Estrada issued the confirmation after Psy concert promoter, Joed Serrano of That’s Ntertainment, revealed the possibility of Psy returning to the Philippines as early as March.
“I appreciate that. He’s most welcome to help us out with the campaign. He’ll help us out,†Estrada said.
Estrada hopes Psy would be able to perform with him in his campaign sortie for the entire 45 days of campaign for local elections in May.
“But of course, it depends upon their availability. We cannot command them because we don’t pay for them. We just invited them,†Estrada noted.
The former leader said the original plan is to have Psy perform in his proclamation rally on March 29.
