Newly asphalted 3.56-kilometer Tinago-Dao Beach Road in Dauis

Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado yesterday inaugurated the newly asphalted 3.56-kilometer Tinago-Dao Beach Road in Dauis – one of two towns in the resort island of Panglao, Bohol.

The provincial road leads to one of the favorite bathing spots in the town – inviting because of its crystal clear waters and white beach. A resort-and-playground lies nearby.

Costing the province only P18.8 million from its 20 percent Development Fund, the governor expressed satisfaction over the quality of work implemented by the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) under Engr. Edwin Vallejos, with Phase 1 undertaken by  LUYM Contractors and Development Corp. and Phase 2 by Cebu 7H Technochem Industries, Inc.

Aumentado observed that the contractors have adopted modern technology, already using a computerized machine to ensure the correct temperature in “cooking” or heating and mixing the asphalt.

Just one kilometer long, Phase 1, completed as early as May 2007, cost only P5 million while the 2.56-km Phase 2, completed last December, cost only P13.8 million.

He said he prefers the PEO over the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in doing road jobs because it comes out more cost effective.

This is because DPWH deducts a total of 10.5 percent in supervision fees alone, at 3.5 percent each for the central, regional and district offices.

Being a road leading to a tourist destination, it falls among those given top priority for paving by the Aumentado-Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera administration. Others are roads linking towns and those with heavy vehicular traffic.

The Tinago-Dao Beach Road is five meters wide, with shoulders of 1.5 meters on each side.

During the inaugural program at the Dao Barangay Stage, the governor announced that lined up for paving in the very near future will be the provincial road from Dao to Barangay Libaong in Panglao town. The road traverses an area eyed by hotel chain owners to construct posh resorts and hotels in.

The road also provides access to the Panglao Bohol International Airport slated for construction by the middle of this year.

Aumentado said the chief architect and the navigational aids specialist of the Philippines-Japan Airport Consultants (PHILJAC) are slated to arrive tomorrow

He is also expecting three teams from the Makati City-based Palafox Associates to arrive tomorrow to start the conduct of the master planning for the whole island to ensure orderly development.

The governor said he does not want to repeat the mistakes of Boracay and Puerto Galera that, in their over-enthusiasm to develop, overlooked critical aspects like sewerage and solid waste disposal.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
