MORE DECEPTION
DETAILS EXPOSEDMore shades of the so-called grand design of deception by the disloyal elements of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD in Bohol have been exposed.
But the leaders and members who stick to the party “chose not to advice†their “prodigal†partymates, who are led by Aumentado, while their discord is expected to magnify in the days to come. The campaign period for local candidates will officially start on March 26.
In a press conference they called on Monday, the faithful Lakas group led by gubernatorial aspirant Chatto and his vice governor, Board Member Concepcion Lim, simply asked Aumentado and his faction to “be fair and clear.â€
Rep. Roberto Cajes of the Second District traced one incident which he said could further pinpoint treachery as the very root cause of the party disintegration.
He said Herrera had told former Third District Rep. Eladio Jala “not to worry if he is dislocated because the governor will personally escort him to Villar†of the NP.
This supposedly occurred while Jala, father of Rep. Adam Relson Jala who is not seeking reelection, and former Agriculture Sec. Arthur Yap were both then seeking official Lakas blessing for congressman in the Third District.
The father Jala was later appointed to the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) while Yap, unopposed, is now the official Lakas bet for congressman.
The attempt assuring Jala of the congressional slot under NP was made by Herrera long before the vice governor left Lakas to join the Villar camp.
The acts of betrayal to Lakas could well be said to have also started to be carried out from there, according to Cajes.
He added that having ex-provincial Tomas Abapo, Jr. likewise tumbling into NP for the vice gubernatorial post against him was part of the sinister plan.
Cajes’ vice gubernatorial bid did not push through when the national Lakas suddenly revoked Aumentado’s Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA). The national party leadership issued CONA to Cajes’ wife, Mayor Judith Cajes, for Second District congresswoman. Her husband, a last-termer solon, decided to file his candidacy for mayor.
Cajes said the manifestos and other attacks against the new provincial party leadership of Chatto is another glaring major part of the grand plan of deception.
Statements in the press conference obviously referred to Aumentado as the “grand designer†of deceit and party betrayal.
Yap lamented that his baptismal entry to politics right in Bohol, place of his wife, has been caught in the storm.
In the press conference, Yap appealed “not to disabuse our minds†as he, himself, was unfairly dragged to have caused all the mess simply for his choice to run in Bohol and not in either of the provinces of his parents.
He likewise begged not to give any advice to Aumentado even if Yap and their group led by Chatto have long expected the other faction to disunite the Lakas and find “legitimate†cause, which the faction has otherwise long sought and worked for, to leave the party and openly support NP.
For Chatto, “the time has come†for the party to draw its new might from “awakening†events. He especially called on the Boholano youths to learn from the lessons of the present political chaos and mature into responsible citizens.
Chatto has consistently led among the Bohol gubernatorial candidates. This has again been proven based on the latest Holy Name University (HNU) Research Center survey, which result was released days ago.
His vice gubernatorial runningmate, Lim, who is the president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC), in Bohol politely but firmly asked Aumentado and his faction to be honest and straight.
Cajes just hoped that the governorâ€s actions do not contradict his words.
Former Gov. Rene Relampagos, the Lakas-Kampi-CMD-LDP coalition bet for First District congressman, suggested that Aumentado is “matured enough†and he should know his own doings.
Relampagos, LDP head in Bohol, confirmed that Aumentado, not Chatto, had asked him to issue LDP CONAs to the mayoralty bets in Ubay and Getafe.
His statement contradicted the claim of the Aumentado group, who include Catigbian Mayor Roberto Salinas and few other mayors, that the coalition with LDP is a “fiction.â€
In the Lakas meeting at Hotel La Roca here on November 28 last year, Aumentado welcomed the coalition and declared support to Relampagos as the coalition bet for First District congressman. Aumentado’s recorded declaration was replayed in different radio programs over the week.
Catigbian officials led by Vice Mayor Digaum and almost all barangay captains attended the Lakas press conference last Monday. Some of them confirmed that Salinas told them to yet stay in Lakas, play the game and end up with NP.
The group reiterated their support to Chatto even as their mayor has taken a position inimical to the party.
CAPITOL RESOURCES
USED FOR NP BETS The blatant abuse of power in employing several hundreds of provincial government casuals for the politicking of NP candidates was likewise exposed.
The Lakas vice gubernatorial candidate assailed the use of casual workers since last year to promote Herrera and Abapo.
Lim said these government–paid workers have been in disguise of conducting an anti-poverty program census but on certain political motives, among others, to get the mobile phone contact numbers of the household members and distributed campaign materials. She added that they would report to Boy Pernia, a trusted assistant to the governor, in every 15th and 30th of the month.
Even if he is no longer connected with the provincial government and despite his being an NP candidate, Abapo would also regularly meet the casual workers, distribute provincial aids and even use government car, according to the ABC-Bohol president.
Lim recalled that the governor then had tarpaulins of the province displayed elsewhere with the faces of Aumentado, Herrera and Abapo on them even if the latter no longer worked in the provincial government.
She protested to the governor, who promised to remove the tarpaulins but which, untill now, are still in place.
It was further revealed in the press conference that the governor and others who are close to him then told Lim to file her independent candidacy for vice governor minutes before the close of the filing of candidacy.
Aumentado would allegedly have this done because “Abapo could not win against Cajes for vice governor.†Lim did not file since she then knew for a fact that their party then already had Cajes for the position.
Lim admitted that Aumentado had declared in the presence of her leaders in Valencia that he would be her campaign manager for vice governor. The governor’s wife also prodded Lim to run vice governor against Cajes. (Ven rebo Arigo)
