No midnight deal.

Agnes Devanadera, former solicitor general and later justice secretary during the Arroyo administration, said she was not aware of any last-minute deal designed to mitigate accused plunderer Carlos Garcia’s liability and eventually set him free.

Devanadera said government lawyers should focus on the legal process. She said talk of midnight deals “only serves to distract them.”

“It’s easy for you to be emotional,” the former justice secretary told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone. “But if I were them, I would just study the case. Like in a song, you look at the melody and lyrics rather than scrutinize the singer.”  - pna
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. - John 3:16-18
