Sen. Manuel Villar is forecasted to gather several town mayors to his Nacionalista Party when he visits the province on Saturday.
The senator who is one of the leading presidential contenders earlier came to the province to induct more than 25 municipal mayors belonging to the administration Lakas-Kampi. However, due to pressure from Malacanang, Gov. Erico Aumentado called the mayors to re-take their oath of party allegiance to Lakas-Kampi of which he is the regional and provincial chairman.
Aumentado, Bohol's political kingpin is also identified with Sen. Villar as both have sealed their friendship when the former served Villar as deputy House speaker.
However, Gov. Aumentado will find it difficult to bolt the administration Lakas-Kampi with his closeness to Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
There are reports that Vice Gov. Julius Herrera who is interested to run for governor is reportedly ready to open his support for Villar while Aumentado will stick it out with Arroyo.
Unconfirmed reports said that Herrera will take his allegiance to NP during Villar's visit this Saturday.
Presently, there are seven town mayors already with the Nacionalista Party, namely Carmen Mayor Boy Molina, Baclayon Mayor Alvin Uy, Calape Mayor Yu, Alburquerque Mayor Jalad, Bien Unido Mayor Boniel, Guindulman Mayor Fe Piezas, Alicia Mayor Pedro Miasco and San Isidro Mayor Paul Gumanid.
Sen. Villar will be here for a gathering of the municipal councilors. He will separately meet with the town mayors later in the day. - the bohol chronicle
