Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar declared Cebu is no longer the territory of the administration because of the warm reception he and his partymates received as they barnstormed in the province on Saturday.
Cebu, which gave President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo one million votes in the 2004 presidential race, has been acknowledged by Ms Arroyo as the province that propelled her to victory in 2004.
Villar, his running mate Sen. Loren Legarda and their senatorial candidates were mobbed as they visited the different public markets in Metro Cebu Saturday.
Villar said they were received warmly in Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz but it was nothing compared to their reception in Cebu.
Villar and Legarda, who decided to separately barnstorm in different areas in Cebu during their two-day campaign here, arrived in their designated visit areas amid fanfare spearheaded by supporters who wore orange t-shirts, Villar’s signature color.
