The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Wednesday charged Pamatong with direct contempt and ordered him to be detained at Manila City Jail, after he interrupted the promulgation proceedings of the second division.

Pamatong, a self-proclaimed author and lawyer who once tried to sue Pope Benedict XVI, attempted to walk out of the Comelec session hall as the division was set to announce the ruling on the disqualification case he filed against ousted President Joseph Estrada and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

‘You’re all thieves’

“I want to leave! Mga magnanakaw kayong lahat (You’re all thieves)!” Pamatong yelled at Commissioners Nicodemo Ferrer, Lucenito Tagle and Elias Yusoph.

As Pamatong left the room, an angry Yusoph shouted an order to the guards. “Arrest him!” he said.

In a statement distributed to the media, Pamatong accused the commissioners of accepting P5 million each so that Vetellano Acosta, the candidate of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, would be included in the list of presidential candidates.
