AS DECEITS, LIES PEDDLED MORE FEARLESSLY
Lakas leaders make
louder call for honesty
(BOHOL CHRONICLE / SUNDAY POST)
Lakas gubernatorial bet Rep. Edgar Chatto and other party leaders have sounded louder calls for honesty as deceit and lies have been peddled even more fearlessly.
The disgruntled party faction led by Gov. Erico Aumentado has revised its manifesto so that the national party leadership will this time appear spared from the attack of the group, according to highly-placed sources.
But be as it may, party loyalists said damage has already been done even if the master scheme of deceit uncovered consequently.
The motive of the other group to destroy the party and its leaders both in the national and local levels was long apparent when it printed, as a paid publication, its manifesto in local, regional and national dailies.
The Padayon Bol-anon camp of Lakas which supports Chatto felt it is also imperative to clarify some points raised by Aumentado in his Governor’s Report last Friday.
The group said the things happening now are in stark contrast to the supposed statesmanship of the governor.
The group recognized the capacity and performance of the governor to galvanize support from fellow Bohol leaders as well as national officials in securing projects for the province.
Chatto said “they cannot forget how he motivated us all to act together in this regard.â€
However, party loyalists lamented that Aumentado has not used the same skill they otherwise expected to unify the party.
Aumentado could have sustained the unity of the party but he did not do it because he was decided to put up two slates in Bohol to serve the interests of both Lakas and NP, they said.
In alone not calling party meetings preparatory to the filing of candidacies, Aumentado accordingly already drew lines how to divide Lakas and support NP.
Lakas leaders said Aumentado was again deceiving the Boholanos when he claimed he never thought he would be betrayed right “in his own house,†the latter referred to the Lakas party.
“We respect this house even if he (Aumentado) stayed here first, but we also learn to love this house the same way its earlier occupants could,†Chatto declared.
Other Lakas leaders hinted that they also know Aumentado “owns two houses.†They were apparently referring the second house to NP.
“But if Lakas is his home, why has the governor allowed its division to happen?†they asked.
Another lie accordingly peddled in the Governor’s Report was Aumentado’s claim that Chatto “had then been courting†Board Member Concepcion Lim to be his vice governor.
Lim admitted, however, in the Lakas press conference last Monday that Aumentado and those who are close to him inspired her to run for vice governor against Rep. Roberto Cajes.
Chatto only negotiated---and easily succeeded--- Lim for vice governor when Rep. Roberto cajes decided in the last minute to instead run for Trinidad mayor.
Aumentado was also untrue in saying that the party loyalists are driving him away from Lakas, according to party diehards.
The group said they simply asserted that the manifesto of the camp of Aumentado and Catigbian Mayor Roberto Salinas, et al, were a part of the disgruntled faction’s preparation to transfer.
In fact, some of the manifesto signatories have recruited local officials to go with them against Lakas.
It is entirely false to say that the disloyal Lakas members have been driven away by the present provincial party leadership as what Aumentado would want the public to wrongly believe, they said.
And this is despite the malicious lies and deception that the party dissenters have been spreading, according to the steadfast party members.
Some concerned citizens reacted to the media over DYRD Program Radyo Merkado that Aumentado is one they know of who could lie in his official, political and personal capacities.
Aumentado last year told Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera not to settle for congressman. The governor did this while he was to fly to Hawaii last year.
This negated his own statement in the Governor’s Report that he would really have wanted Herrera to run for Congress under Lakas.
Aumentado also told the vice governor to insist, even in the presence of Pres. Arroyo, against running for Congress.
Herrera revealed all these to Board Member Cesar Tomas Lopez when political positioning was still fluid last year. At that time, no one was certain that Lopez could later go for reelection in Chatto’s slate.
Aumentado put malice to a query, which was raised in a meeting with then Political Affairs Sec. Gabriel Claudio in Manila last year, on the transition of the provincial chairmanship of Lakas considering that he would run for a district, and no longer provincial, position.
Aumentado turned over the provincial party chairmanship to Chatto on November 28, 2009 or already three days to the deadline of the filing of candidacies.
But in his weekly radio program on Friday, Aumentado surprisingly claimed he had informally turned over it on November 19. No Lakas leaders could recall such an occasion. (Ven rebo Arigo)
