Philippine Civil Service marks 105th year
by Brent M. Bravo
Cagayan de Oro City (30 August 2005) -- For more than a hundred years of existence, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) continues its service at its very best.

The month of September marks the CSC’s 105th Founding Anniversary with the theme “Isulong Ang Dangal Ng Serbisyo Sibil”.

As in the previous years, the celebration kicks off with a parade participated in by different government agencies in the region on September 1 from the City Kiosk to the Pelaez Sports Center, where a “Hataw Na” exercise activity led by the Department of Tourism and Northern Mindanao Medical Center will be made, followed by fun-filled “Pinoy Games,” the Civil Service Commission regional office in Cagayan de Oro City announced.

To promote the lined-up activities for the month, the “Ugnayan at Balitaan in Region 10” will be held at the Philippine Information Agency on September 5 at 10AM to further drum up the observance, to be guested by representatives from agencies providing frontline services.

The activities in line for the month-long celebration include the “Bida Sila” on Sept. 9 at the SM Atrium, to recognize and pay tribute to the blue-collared workers in the province, co-hosted by the Regional Council of Personnel Officers.

The “Bike for Austerity and Environment Awareness,” an activity co-sponsored by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, which starts from the Pelaez Sports Center to various points in the city, will also be conducted on the same day.

For the bike run, registration fee is only P70, inclusive of snack and certificate.

On Sept. 16, the “Share a Life, Donate Blood” special blood letting program will take place at the CSC Training Hall.

On September 19 all government agencies will simultaneously hold flag raising ceremonies, including the singing of the Awit ng Serbisyo Sibil to signify oneness in the entire bureaucracy, including the holding of an inter-faith thanksgiving.

The agencies involved may also include physical fitness activities or may use the 30-minute aerobics program of the CSC entitled “Bidyo Ehersisyo, Bsiyo Ko’To.” VCD copies of the program are available at the CSC office for reproduction.

To culminate the celebration, the Parangal at Pasasalamat on Sept. 27 will honor exemplars in public service.

CSC is urging all government agencies to hang the 105th Anniversary streamer or banner starting September 1 and recite the Panunumpa ng Watawat and Panunumpa Ng Lingkod Bayan to mark the traditional, simple but meaningful celebration, and also in line with the austerity measures of the government. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
