Members of the Joint National Task Force - Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict Eastern Visayas (NTF-RTF-ELCAC VIII) convene for a joint meeting ahead of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s arrival at the Hotel Summit in Tacloban City, Leyte on March 18, 2021.
To address the issue of poverty in the region, the Task Force implements several development projects, including the regional launch of Barangay Development Program (BDP).
The BDP is the nationwide banner program of the Task Force intended to provide socio-economic development programs such as livelihood, health stations, school buildings, rural electrification and farm-to-market roads for areas cleared of communist insurgency.
The meeting’s agenda also includes the turnover of programs, projects and activities (PPAs) by member agencies for the region’s focus areas and several accomplishments made by the RTF-ELCAC VIII.
Present during the meeting are National Security Adviser (NSA) Secretary Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. (Vice Chairperson of the NTF-ELCAC), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Chairperson Allen Capuyan (Executive Director of the NTF-ELCAC), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario (Chairperson of the RTF-ELCAC VIII and Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security [CORDS] for Region VIII), among others
