MANILA, Philippines—Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson denied anew Friday that he’s gay as he threatened to tell the “cruel truth” about Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago if the feisty lawmaker spreads “lies” about him.

“If she isn’t crazy, I have cleared many times that I am not gay,” Lacson said in Filipino.

Lacson was reacting to Santiago’s speech at the Manila Hotel this Friday where she repeatedly mentioned about a political foe she described as gay and stupid. She did not name the person whom she even insinuated could have pocketed funds intended for the rent of their Senate offices.

Lacson said he would not take Santiago’s “insults” sitting down and threatened to tell the “cruel truth” about her.

“The thing is, I won’t start a fight with anybody as I did not initiate this quarrel with her; neither will I turn my back,” Lacson said in a text message.

“If she hits me hard, I’ll hit her back harder. If she insults me, I’ll insult her back and more harshly. But I will tell the cruel truth about her if she spreads lies about me,” he said.

He also accused Santiago of misusing funds when she allegedly used Senate money to pay the rent of her extended office in a building owned by her family.

“The issue against her is graft because she used the money of the people to pay for her personal expenses,” Lacson said.

In her speech, Santiago said that the use of funds was approved by the Senate even as she wondered if her unnamed nemesis was the one who actually pocketed the money intended for the same purpose.

Lacson, apparently reacting to Santiago’s tirade, denied any wrongdoing.

“I’m not like her who’s greedy. I have not pocketed any funds in all the time that I have been in government and I don’t accept bribes,” he said.

“And what about her? Perhaps, it will be better for her to answer appropriately and not like some crazy woman with graft cases at the Ombudsman,” Lacson said.

Ping to Miriam: My name is not Pinky, I'm not gay

MANILA - Senator Panfilo Lacson said his colleague, Senator Miriam Santiago, has a lunatic idea in insinuating he's gay.

In a text message, Lacson said: “I am sorry to disappoint the lady senator. If she's insinuating some LUNATIC idea about my sexuality, let me emphasize this - I am not gay and I do not intend to be one."

In an interview with Radyo Inquirer on Wednesday, Santiago gave more biting remarks against her foes in the Senate.

After a long absence due to health reasons, Santiago said she will file a resolution beginning the 16th Congress for a probe into the “brazen false claims” of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile in his book “Juan Ponce Enrile: A Memoir”.

This time, she also said she will reveal the “sins” and “sexuality” of Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson. She tagged him as “Pinky Lacson”.

She said she can always use her parliamentary immunity to talk about Lacson. She said she is not afraid of any retaliation from Lacson, especially since he will soon lose the same immunity.

“Kaya sasagutin ko si Pinky Lacson na yan at hindi lamang iyan, kakalkalin ko isa-isa from A to Z ang kasalanan nya,” she said.

Santiago has been feuding with Enrile for several months. The tiff further escalated when Enrile admitted giving 18 senators P1.6 million and P250,000 to his Senate foes last Christmas.

Santiago returned the money, saying it was an “unconscionable” waste of people’s money.

Lacson’s name got dragged into the mess. Santiago alluded to Lacson as one of Enrile’s “attack dogs.” She said the attack dog pretends to be a lawyer.

Later, Lacson asked the Commission on Audit to also look into alleged anomalies of “one senator....aside from what [that person] is saying against 22 senators,” obviously referring to Santiago.

Lacson said: “Tignan ng COA at malaman kung sinong senador na pati katulong ay naka-payroll sa opisina, pati asawa ay may grocery allowance…Sinong senador ang nirerentahan ang isang satellite office sa sarili nyang building.” – with a report from Ryan Chua, ABS-CBN News

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

just my imagination entertaining me; if i were ping lacson...

i'd turn to a group of real cross-dressers.  (they may be easier to talk to than a lunatic fellow honorable senator with a checkered track record.)  have them organize themselves formally, at least for appearance's sake.  add the ladlad party members if possible, for gravitas.

encourage this organized group of proud gays to publicly deny my membership through full-page newspaper ads, tri-media interviews, flyers, etc.  they cannot take a fake, an impostor in their midst, much less a former fugitive.  of course, because i'm still a senator, i can take care of the logistics.  what an enjoyable scenario.
