Message:   TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR RESPONSIBLE VOTING

1) THOU SHALL VOTE ACCORDING TO THE DICTATES OF YOUR CONSCIENCE.

2) THOU SHALL RESPECT THE DECISION OF OTHERS IN CHOOSING THEIR  CANDIDATES.

3) THOU SHALL SEEK TO KNOW THE MORAL INTEGRITY, CAPABILITIES AND OTHER PERSONAL QUALITIES OF THE CANDIDATES
YOU WILL VOTE FOR.

4) THOU SHALL STRIVE TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES, PLATFORM AND PROGRAMS OF CANDIDATES AND PARTIES SEEKING YOUR
VOTE.

5) THOU SHALL NOT SELL YOUR VOTES.

6) THOU SHALL NOT VOTE FOR CANDIDATES USING GUNS, GOONS AND GOLD.

7) THOU SHALL NOT VOTE FOR CANDIDATES WITH RECORDS OF GRAFT AND CORRUPTION AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.

THOU SHALL NOT VOTE FOR CANDIDATES JUST BECAUSE OF UTANG NA LOOB, PERSONAL APPEARANCE, POPULARITY, OR PAKIKISAMA.

9) THOU SHALL NOT VOTE FOR CANDIDATES LIVING AN IMMORAL LIFE.

10) THOU SHALL PUT THE WELFARE OF THE COUNTRY ABOVE ALL ELSE IN CHOOSING HE CANDIDATES YOU WILL VOTE FOR.

TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR RESPONSIBLE CANDIDACY

1) RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SERVE THE PEOPLE AND HAVE THE COMPETENCE FOR THE POSITION YOU ARE ASPIRING FOR.

2) OBEY ALL LAWS OF THE COMELEC.

3) CAMPAIGN ON ISSUES, PLATFORMS AND PROGRAMS OF GOVERNMENT THAT WILL ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE.

4) DO NOT PROMISE ANYTHING YOU CANNOT KEEP.

5) DO NOT ATTACK THE HONOR AND DIGNITY OF YOUR OPPONENT.

6) DO NOT BUY VOTES.

7) DO NOT USE ANY FORM OF VIOLENCE.

DO NOT CHEAT IN THE COUNTING OF VOTES.

9) ACCEPT DEFEAT WITH DIGNITY AND BE NOBLE IN VICTORY.

10) SWEAR TO GOD FROM THE DEPTH OF YOUR SOUL THAT ONCE IN POWER, YOU WILL SERVE WITH UTMOST DEDICATION AND PUT
THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY ABOVE ALL ELSE.

What used to be immortal words of Dr. Jose Rizal is now dead.  What remains immortal is only Rizal's face in our PESO BILLS.  That's why during election, we don't seem to care about Rizal's admonition; we only care of how many Rizal faces are given to us; give us Rizal's face and you'll have my vote; the more Rizal face you give the more votes you get.
That the youths are the hope of the fatherland, is now no more.  In the last SK ELECTION our youths chosed to follow the path of dirty politics by doing the following: 1. VOTE BUYING;  2. LAMING (FREE BOARD & LODGING);  and,  3. JUDAS ESCARIOTISM.

So what can we expect from the youths as our future leaders?

Let us have faith in the youth, Olintaha. Do not despair completely.

We must never give up, the moment we give up is to bequeath to defeat.

In times of severity, when the wolves are in our ranks, we must take heed and look to our Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
Did he give up when he was arrested? When anti-revolutionistas hunted him down in Madrid and in Manila, did he cease his pen? Nay, he did not. He wrote, he continued to activate.

Rizal, like Prophet Moses, was able to see the promised land. To see paradise, the full potential of our nation, though he was unable to see it manifest. Dr. Rizal placed his trust in the youth of Las Filipinas. And thus we must strive like him, and never give up despite defeat's coiling presence. Even if you and I are silenced, there will be others to carry the flag.

Just as Rizal, had faith in us, we too must have faith in ourselves, our rights, and the future of our precious Filipinas.

Olintaha, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

We must not compare ourselves to nations like the United States, and other republican systems that have centuries to testify their republican system.

I denounce corruption, the act of vote buying, and the act of selling votes. Using political power for personal reasons is against the sanctity of the public office.

However, we must duly note that our country is new. We are not like the United States where she has over 230 years of independency and ample time to experiment on their political systems. Our country received independence no more than 62 years ago. And for over 20 years our country was under a totalitarian dictatorship. We reverted to democracy in 1987, meaning that we have been 'independent' for 21 years.

21 years is not ample amount of time to declare hopelessness within our nation. Of course there will be vote buying and trickling remnants of corruption, time has not effaced them from power.

I remain optimistic.

I got your point Lor.
But the concept of trust must not be strained till it is narrowed to a filament. We can only trust a person so much as he deserve.  Beyond that, no more!  So unless our youths will rise up to the challenge, then we may cast our hopes in them again.

But how can we trust the youths now who became Honorable SK Officials of their barangays and towns, thru the following means: 1. By billeting the voters (free board & lodging) during the entire campaign period;  and,  2. Paying for their votes. !!!!!!!    And because they were taught the politics of money, some youth voters also learned the wrong values of Judas Escariote (dawat LEFT & RIGHT).   So what can we expect from them when they will eventually join the big league??

If  today Dr. Jose Rizal would be allowed to live again, I doubt if he will cast the same hope upon our youths as he did before.  In the same way that if Ninoy Aquino would be allowed to live again, I doubt very much of he is still willing to die for the Filipino people.
