the opening reminds me of Erap's "walang kumpare. . . . . . ., walang kaibigan. . . . . !"

I like Obama of all presidential candidates - Republican and Democratic!  He may be young in politics but he has the vision, he has the energy and he has the brain to make the difference, to make the change America has been waiting for!

I hope he wins!

Yes, he sounds brilliant. But if i heard him correctly, i think he is against those companies who brings out jobs to overseas.  And these are the call centers i'm sure.

I have seen some of Obama’s speeches. For me, a US presidential race is anything like Hollywood, though the result will eventually/indirectly shape the future of the world including us Filipinos.

It is like looking at the TV series “24”, where the star Jack Bauer is reporting to a Black President. By next season, Jack Bauer will be reporting to a Female president. I guess Hillary Clinton must have bribed the producers of this TV hit series. Also I have followed the TV hit series “Commander in Chief” starred by Gina Davis as the first female president of the US. I also wondered if the Clintons have something to do with this or just a coincidence.

Generally, I like people who struggle for victory like Obama. He is the poorest among the candidates with less than $3 million in personal assets.

Through struggle, one can see the genuineness of intentions

I am not familiar if you have chanced upon a research finding (I think from the University of Washington) which tries to pin down the root cause of dirty Philippine politics, governance and all.

If you happen to compare other Asian countries, layu na jud ang lanak. Hong Kong and Singapore was under the British rule, Vietnam was under Dutch ba? basta, in the research, it kind of imply nga Philippines would have been very different kung dili pa ang mga kastila ang nisakup sa atua.

Blame the Spaniards jud ang drama? hahahaha.

If one compares the countries under the Spanish rule--i.e. Latin American countries like Mexico, pareho ra jud ang dagan sa governance ug ekonomiya sa Pinas.

Blame jud ang Espanya. hahaha

He was brilliant. No doubt. Praning lang jud hinuun. :)

According to stories, he was imprisoned sa charge nga murder ug iyang gi depensa ang iyang kaugalingon kay abogado na man tu siya adtung panahuna, ug nakadaug siya sa kaso. Ug ang iyang gipatay daw? iyang ig-agaw nga politiko.

Bar topnotcher sad to siya

Obama is a great condidate out of all of them.

He has books out about him that i would highly reccomend for you guys to read so that you can understand him as the man in his background in how he was brought up.

I also hope he wins I could vote if only i could get the Embassy web site to let me go to the absentee ballot registration page while I am here.

I agree with you Scott. The Spaniards did nothing but made us slaves. Mabuhay si Rizal!

Imagine, for 300 years gamay ra kaayo atong nahibaloan ug Spanish language. The words we inherit out of 300 years rules are only terms and we are not even perfect in grammar.

When the Americans came and stayed for just 30 years, most of the grade 6 pupils could speak perfect English and are eligible for teaching profession.

Moreover, “soccer football” as the world calls it the beautiful game is very famous in Europe including Spain. However, the “Balbahutogs” (as our Spanish teacher Mr. Mirupis Villamor call them), did not even teach us to play soccer. Whereas all countries who were under British, Portuguese & Dutch imperial rule became world cup champions like Brazil, Venezuela, even Korea became 3rd placer, who were once ruled by Dutch.

Also what made us poor is the Don / Donya matapobre concept.

Also as what is mentioned by RV nga padrino ug padrina system, mga god-father system which leads to nepotism and political dynasty.

Also the maniana habit or tomorrow habit, which is procrastination in simple English. Also the siesta habit, kanang ligid-ligid sa banig instead ug i-daro or i-hagbas. Also the impractical utang for fiesta expenses. Fiesta is supposed to be a celebration, a thanks giving for a bountiful harvest for example. Pero kung mangutang ka para i-fiesta, asa man ang bounty?

Mo lambo siguro ang Pilipinas kung atong hinay-hinayan ug kick-off kini nga mga attitude.

Well said, Macky! You talk about us not learning the Spanish language when we were colonized by the Spaniards for a long time.  The best example is the Chabacanos in Zamboanga, no offense meant...  I used to work with Chabacanos and the pride themselves for their l"Spanish" anguage.  On time, I was already working in Manila at that time, my Chabacano friends talk like chirping birds then our Secretary who speaks real Spanish was just dumbfounded upon hearing them.  She said, that certainly is "trash Spanish"!  And when she learned that was Chabacano, She said, Chabacano means trash!  I checked Wikipedia and here's what it says:

The word chabacano—which the name Chavacano is derived from—is Spanish for "poor taste," "vulgar," "common," "tasteless," "tacky," or "coarse."

I didn't have the social sickness you mentioned except for a bit of the Manana Habit but I am kicking it off strongly now.

Now, going back to Obama.  In the early part of the campaign or way before Obama officially expressed his intention to run for US President, people doubted that a Muslim-sounding family name could stand a chance in a presidential election in a country who was turn to pieces by Muslims in the 9/11.  Some detractors even want to confuse people by naming him as Barack Osama and later apologized that it was just typo error.  He stayed calm and slowly but surely rose to the level way a little over Hillary.  He talked a great deal about HOPE towards the end of his speech in the video below and so I reiterate what I said in my earlier post, I hope he wins!

I do hope Obama wins. He is the epitome of the New America.

A multi-cultural America.
A reinvigorated America.
The America of the Future.
The Mighty, Proud, and Just America.

My heart beats proud as a Filipino-American. I Support Sen. Barack Obama!
