Gun Ownership in the Philippines
« on: June 01, 2010, 08:40:47 PM »
By ARIS R. ILAGAN
Manila Bulletin

Another group of gun enthusiasts asked members of Congress on Saturday to pass a law that will relax existing rules on gun ownership amid proposals of a possible implementation of a permanent total gun ban policy.

Perry Punla, an advocate of total pro gun and president of Gun Enthusiast Confederation of the Philippines, said there is a need for lawmakers to draft a law that would give people “the right, not just the privilege to own a gun.”

Punla issued the statement after a multi-sectoral group of gun afficionados held a series of meetings in Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan few days ago to come up with a "common voice" in airing their side on the issue of proposed permanent implementation of the total gun ban policy now being considered by the PNP.

I don’t know what is the impact of this on the people, kay kung mahubog maoy ra ba nang uban.
Magpinusilay man gani sa traffic,  how much more when they are under the influence of alcohol. Besides majority of the people are below poverty line, para unsa man ang pusil

it´s like saying I have the power to kill you, a possible answer to your question wolfie!
a very good friend of mine collects guns and he has a license plus a steel cabinet and his papers are sporadically controlled by the police to avoid misused.
Inspite of this strict rules some youngster use this to run amok in their schools.

Labi na sa atong culture hilig magtapok, inom, sumsum, kanta
naay uban palabwanay sa hambog ang malupig  magwild
  kon may  pusil kuyaw magkamatay.

Gun ownership should  be limited only to business owners as protection
not just for anybody on the street.

I don't like guns.My husband has a few.In a road rage it is tempting to use a gun if you carry it in your car..but if you don't have it,100% safer to  just flipped off  your middle finger when they cut you off on the road.

They're in a hurry to get to their destination that is why they cut you off the road.I doubt if they would turn around and shoot me just because I finger them, but thanks for the idea maybe next time I would just smile and wave at them.

The orientation of the people in the Philippines and here (US) as far as gun ownership is different. Here you can flip your middle finger if somebody cut you in the road. In the Philippines, if you do that someone will put a bullet in your head.

That is why, in my personal opinion gun ownership in the Philippines should remaim restricted.
