Construction or maintenance of roads or bridges funded by the province, city, municipality and barangay is prohibited starting October 19 in relation to the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
However, under Commission on Elections resolution No. 8309, the prohibition will not apply to ongoing projects that started before the campaign period.
The resolution also mandates all provincial, cities, municipal and barangays to submit to the Comelec the lists of ongoing projects on or before October 11 for certification.
From October 19 to October 29, no construction of provincial, city, municipal and barangay-funded roads and bridges is allowed. This prohibition stemmed from the provision of the omnibus election code.
In the same resolution, the local government units are mandated to immediately pay all workers who may have worked on the construction and maintenance of the projects that are be suspended pursuant to the 10 day ban.
