First it was Board Member Ae Damalerio. Then there was Roberto “Bachoy†Alba. Honorable Ae Damalerio was named persona non grata by the Sangguniang Bayan because he locked horns with the City of Tagbilaran over the drainage issue. Radioman Bachoy Alba was accorded the same by the same Sanggunian because of his comments against the Bishop of the Diocese of Tagbilaran. This time, it is the turn of no less than Dr. Hayden Kho, who broke into the national broadsheets as a suspected actor, director and producer of an illicit X rated piece. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol did the honors.
For his “highly unethical and dishonorable to say the least and more bestial than human, obviously unbecoming of a supposed professionalâ€, Dr Kho is “not welcome to set foot on Bohol’s soil.†There goes another would be tourist. The Kho bashing hysteria is in the vogue these days. Everybody of note wants to be in the picture. But what had Dr Hayden Kho done which was “more bestial than humanâ€? Was his deed the first ever?
Pornographic pieces are not new in the Philippine scene. There are magazines, films and compact disks for sale in the not so underground market. Most actions a performed by unknown porno stars but once in a while, prominent persons had been featured; most of them are choreographed and faked. In a certain place in Quiapo, Manila, just signify your intentions and smut vendors will swarm over you with offers. To make it worse, smut has already invaded the Internet.
Some people like to experience vicarious thrills by observing others in action. Call it voyeurism or whatever. There are also people who would like to see themselves performing. That is some form of narcissism. Still there are others who record their intimate moments to be viewed later by the principals only. Their preferences are classified by prudes calling themselves moralists as bordering on the kinky but as long as they keep it to themselves, they can not called perverse outright.. It is only those who record their action clandestinely with the intention of blackmailing or humiliating the other that could be considered criminal.
Sometime ago, a comedy star and a basketball player in the PBA recorded their bout in a cell phone. When their cell phone broke down this was sent to the shop for repairs. Technicians found the recording and reproduced it in CDs and sold them. The comedienne was dropped by the TV network while the athlete went on playing for his team in the PBA Curiously nobody was sued. Their names did not make waves.
In the case of Dr. Hayden Kho and Ms Katrina Halili, their actions were recorded in the hard disk of a laptop computer. This recording was never intended for circulation commercial or otherwise. They do not need the money from that source Somehow; someone got hold of that particular computer, .reproduced the stored record and caused the sale of the copies. While the principals panicked and issued damaging statements, politicians made a lot of mileage.
It is possible that Dr. Hayden Kho may come to Bohol to let things cool off. He may have relations here There seems to be some Khos here. There was our friend a Henry Morgia Kho of Maribojoc. He says further that he is a relation of Kho Hoc Sing. We wonder if they are really related. If so what is wrong with one more Kho in Bohol?
