A new political party represented by "Heroes"
« on: October 22, 2007, 04:03:24 PM »
Dear Tubag Bohol Members,

A new political party represented by "Heroes" OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) has been formed. Please read as below. OFWs are the lifeblood of our economy, yet we have no political representation. Please help me disseminate this information to all Filipino Community Leaders in your area. Thanks.

Written by: "Bonite, Elias F" <[email protected]>

Dear Filipino Community Leaders around the Globe,

Good morning to you all!

Please be informed that an OFWs-led group has been hatched to form a political party the Partido ng Pangdaigdigang Pilipino or PPP among OFs and OFWs around the globe. The reason for the PPP is that the Overseas Filipinos, inspite of its large number- around 10 million, has not yet maximized its potential to address its numerous concerns. It has failed to garner a seat in the Congress even after several attempts by OFWs Party Lists. Moreover, the OFs and OFWs sector has never been consulted on any state policies and regulations that would greatly affect them.

PPP chapters have already been organized in the Middle East particularly in the Central Region (Riyadh) and Western Region (Jeddah) of Saudi Arabia. PPP chapters are now existing in Europe, USA and Canada. In the Philippines binubuo na rin, PPP-NCR (National Capital Region in the Phil.) has been tasked to register PPP with the SEC and eventually with the COMELEC.

It is in this light that you are all requested to support and be part of this global PPP. OFs and OFWs need to be united dahil kong magwatak watak tayo mahina ang ating puerza at di tayo magkaroon ng mga representante sa Congress. Imagine if we are all united say we are 10 millions around the world puera pa sa mga dependents natin sa Pilipinas baka kaya nating magkaroon ng representatives sa Congress pati na sa Senate.

This is a very huge and ambitious task pero kung bawat isa sa atin ay mag commit to support this cause – success is not far-fetched.

Please confirm your willingness to join the PPP and advise that you will fully support the formation of this global political party. With you and your group’s participation, it is expected that PPP will take off to a greater heights.

Maraming salamat..

Elias ‘Dong’ F. Bonite

thanks much Macky for posting this subject.  actually this is a calling for all OFs and OFWs globally to wake up, stand up, speak up. I wish thru the Partido ng Pangdaigdigang Pilipino or PPP we could gather a potent force to address the concerns of OFs and OFWs around the world. It is thru UNITY among OFs and OFWs that could gather enough strength to battle for the rights and welfares of our kind which seems to be neglected by the government for quite so long. if we could muster enough force - we are millions around the globe and more are coming, we could easily be represented to the Lower and Uppper House of Congress in the Philippines.

This is indeed an ambitious task! I fully understand the need for representation of the OFs and OFWs to the Congress. OFs and OFWs contribute a lot to our country economically so we should be given voice to the congress but how do you choose a representative amongst OFs and OFWs all over the world?  I can see we TB members, in the near future, can push to be represented in the Bohol Council but pardon my ignorance, is there already a strong organization of OFs and OFWs world-wide?

This is maybe our chance to see changes in our political system. I wholeheartedly support this idea.

And let's hope in the future, there will be no more vote buying and our political leaders will no longer can corrupt the system.

I am happy learning from a reliable source that in 2 barangays in Valencia, all running candidates for the barangay captain election this coming oct 29 had a meeting that they will not practise the vote buying system that people are used to.

kay sa uban daw barrios init kaayo..tag 100 to 500 pay panghatag. Lupig pay election sa mayor.

Vote buying is íllegal so I dont understand why there is no strong move against this done by our president.

I like it, I am attracted to its philosophical innocence, its revolutionary tone--one that challenges the aged-old status quo. Perhaps, just perhaps, that this dream can become reality. In that case, I give my absolute support.

Dear Fairy,

I appreciate your enthusiasm for this cause and love to our motherland. The key word is believe in yourself. Each one of us has a unique talent that brought us to this part of the world.

You will agree with me that most of the OF / OFW's came to this part of the world because we were not born with a silver spoon. If we are, we should not have left our beloved motherland. We left because the economy of our motherland is not favoring us & our family.

Each one of us has its own stories to tell and the common denominator is "struggle for a better future", "the pursuit of happyness". It's now time to use this passion.

If only a few of us lights his/her candle, it will die-out by a gentle gust. But if all our candles are lit, not even the strongest storm could put off its flame. Kining suga, maoy mag lamdag kanato sa dalan nga ginaingon ug "road to progress".

Kita ang nag buhi sa atong economiya. Manong mo tugot man ta nga lain ang mo harvest sa atong gi pugas.

Mura man ko ani ug hing diskorso sa eleksyon. Hehehe

As a child I grew up with the Political scene my father was employed by a Congressman. At the time everything seemed fine it was during  the era of President Garcia. As I grew up though I wetness much corruption and bribery in local and national government. This has sickened me because many times the best candidate lost simply because he did not have enough money to bribe the people for votes.
I understand that our people are desperate for money and power but I truly wish the system will change.

So I too support you 100 percent. We definitely need a change!

Am so elated by the positive responses of the people in this Tubag Bohol Forum. I recieved similar views from different individuals and organizations of OFs & OFWs globally expressing their support for a global Partido ng Pangdaigdigand Pilipino or PPP. Truly kung magkahugpong ang tanang OFs and OFWs around the world, as i said, 10 millions and counting, not to mention their dependents, relatives and friends in the motherland PPP is a very potent force to address its concerns and help shape a government for the people, by the peope and of the people.

padayon PPP!

Dear Grazie, Fairy, et al,

We need to reform the rotten political system of our government. sakto..unta i-educate ang mga voters para dili lang sila dawat kwarta para mobuto but instead look at the capabilities of the candidates. so far wala pa'y nag initiate towards this end that's the reason we enjoined OFs and OFWs around the world to initiate the change kay medyo giyatakan sab ang katungod sa ilang hugpong. And this is where the PPP comes in to help shape our beloved motherland.

padayon PPP!

I think we all dream of a reformed political system free of corruption!  Education and empowerment, I think that's what our people need.  Once man gud naa nay confidence ang tao, naa na silay will power to resist na i corrupt sa atong tagdumala.  Or am I wrong?

Sorry Macky I forgot to address the issue you raised. At the moment, Partido ng Pangdaigdigang Pilipino or PPP is at its capacity building stage. Fortunately we are gaining grounds by leaps and bounds based on the responses from OFs and OFWs around the world puerra pa ang naa ra diri sa Pilipinas. Our website is in process pa. Btw, this PPP is an OFWs-led and inspired political party and it was conceived in Saudi Arabia. To give you an idea, let me mention few indviduals who spearheaded this PPP movement.
In Saudi Arabia : 1) Elias 'Dong' Bonite and Bel Hugo et al in the Eastern Region 2) Bong Amora and Alex Bello et al in the Central Region 3) Rudy Dianalan et al in the Western Region 4) Professor Cesar Torres and Anita Sese et al in the USA 5) Terry Olayta et al in Canada 6) Susie Barbiere et al in Korea 7) I guess Freda Cabactulan et al in Europe 8) Jun Aguilar et al in the National Capital Region in Manila: who has been tasked to register the organization with the SEC and eventually with the COMELEC. There are many groups and individuals involved globally and I can't mention everyone but at least the above mentioned are the prominent personalities so far.

PPP is one of the pillars of an OFs and OFWs empowerment i.e. Social, Economic and Political. There exists a 3-pronged appproach of OFWs empowerment wherein PPP, an OFWs-led party is one component who takes care of its political movement. Social and Economic groups are also doing their homeworks and this will also be launced soon. Medyo few steps ahead lang ang polictical movement for now.

padayon PPP!

Asa kadto ka naka base Glen? I have already informed my brother about you. Busy gihapon siya.

Please forward the PPP cause to all Pinoys you know. This is our party.

Overseas Filipino Workers: Partners for Philippine Progress

By Dong Bonite

Peace and progress are probably the most elusive goals in the social and political life of people in all parts of the world. Building relationships between and among nations, regions, communities and individuals and the alleviation of the lives of the people from the perennial problem of poverty remain an extremely complex and difficult problem. The issue of peace not only in the Philippines but all over the world is so complex that no ordinary man in the street can comprehend it fully. Solutions to it cannot just be simplistic. The problem of terrorism is closely linked with the problem of poverty. They are the two faces of the same coin. These two problems are so gargantuan that progress is seemed too impossible to attain.

The Philippine contemporary scene reflects a general picture of gloom. Crime, corruptions, apathy and poverty are dark deadly clouds that constantly hover our land. Crime is still a big black shroud that envelops the already stricken archipelago. Apathy, ‘the what do I care’ attitude has continued to control and paralyze the minds of the Filipino citizens. Poverty stares us in the face wherever we are whether in the barrios or in the cities.

These are the economic and social problems that confront us. But these problems are not just the responsibilities to solve of the Philippine Government. They are not just the problems of the President nor her Cabinet Members alone. They are problems too of the members of the opposition, of the Church, of any civic organization. They are problems of ALL Filipinos.

These problems are critical that need to be urgently addressed, seriously studied and given appropriate solution. If left unresolved for long we might just wake up someday to find our country dismembered and in the state of irremediable chaos.

Faced with the grim and threatening scenario, how can each Filipino contribute a grain of sand to the solution to the problems of Herculian magnitude? How can an ordinary citizen, living in the country or abroad share a hand to work for the progress of their native land? More importantly, how can the Overseas Workers, indeed generously continue to serve their country and help solve the problems of their fellowmen?

The present economic and political crises are seriously affecting not just the families of the OFWs but all Filipinos. The crises seriously affect the stability of our economy. They are going to affect our future. We cannot afford to be fence sitters. The OFWs are already contributing a lot to the economy of our country? But I believe there are still a lot they can do to improve the situations of the country.

Progress and nation building will be eternally elusive unless all the Filipino people unite to work for it. Progress depends on cooperation and on actual and real nationalistic and patriotic acts. Unity of all Filipinos, intense dedication, honesty of purpose and true patriotic deeds are the most effective tools that an OFW can harness to help his country.

The OFWs can do better than just remitting their earnings to their homeland and thus help our country’s economy. The OFWs can be heroes of government and public life who can work with the highest degree of integrity and sincerity. They can become leaders and exemplars abroad of the important moral values. They are heroes because despite difficulties and the pains of loneliness for being separated from their loved ones, they can commit themselves to the most honorable way of life and labor.

The OFWs are heroes in their own professions. They are the men and women of science and technology, of art and culture who are willing to share their skills and knowledge not just to improve the lives of their families but the lives of his fellow country men. More important of all, they can work for a far higher skills and values; they can work with utmost dedication and commitment to their jobs; they work with utmost care and concern for everyone.

The OFWs are excellent workers and effective partners for progress because they are men and women who can bridge the communication gap and contribute for peace building between his country and the country where they work. They are effective builders of goodwill and unity that cannot be destroyed.

The OFWs can unite to be active partners of the government to hasten economic revovery. Together, they can rally for peaceful solutions to the problems of peace in Mindanao by urging negotiators to go back to the negotiating table and opt for peace instead of war.

It is about time to raise the status and to put on a higher pedestal our OFWs. For so long now, their efforts and contribution remain to be unsung, unseen and unglorified. The progress of our country cannot be attained by a few government officials alone. Rome , as we all know, was not built in a single day by a single emperor. Any country cannot be developed by its government alone. The OFWs need not depend on recognition or reward from the government to become active partners for progress. But whatever is the extent of their contribution, their deeds will always be engraved in the minds and hearts of a grateful nation.

Philippine progress is not an impossible dream. We can make it happen if we are really sincere about it. All Filipinos must be hopeful and must take proactive role towards the attainment of economic progress. The OFWs are important as they are now, but they can be empowered to do more; they can be moved by true spirit of patriotism and love, to do even the impossible.

LONG LIVE THE OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS!

I dont think I've heard of Ms. Veloso. There is a large Filipino-American community here in New Jersey. There's about 40,000-50,000 Filipinos in North Jersey, and a considerable amount of Filipinos in south jersey, where I am from (probably about 10,000 or so in south jersey). My extended congrats to your daughter. She will begin graduate school the same time I will begin Medical School for my 5 year M.D/Ph.D program--I begin on Fall 2008, but we're pretty much on the same page. Good luck to your daughter on her MBA program; it will be a fulfilling experience, I can assure--I have friends who are currently working on their Ph.Ds after finishing their MBA. Does she have plans in continuing with her Ph.D?

My warm regards.

Overseas Filipinos forming political party for 2010

By Veronica Uy
INQUIRER.net
First Posted 15:01:00 05/09/2008

MANILA, Philippines -- Overseas Filipinos are forming a national political party in preparation for the 2010 elections and beyond, it was revealed at the Global Filipino Nation (GFN) conference Friday.

Francisco “Jun” Aguilar, interim chairman of the Partido ng Pandaigdigang Pilipino (PPP or Party of the Global Filipino), said the party is in the process of complying with the requirements of the Commission on Elections.

“This is not a party-list group but a national political party at par with the LDP (Laban ng Demokritong Pilipino or Fight of the Democratic Filipino) or LP (Liberal Party) or NP (Nacionalista Party),” he said.

Aguilar, an engineer who worked in Saudi Arabia, said the PPP already has a constitution and by-laws, and has 13 chapters worldwide: Canada, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, California in the United States, Israel, The Netherlands, France, Morocco, Tanzania, Sudan, Australia, and New Zealand.

He added that they are in the process of organizing its regional, provincial, and municipal headquarters.

Alex Bello, PPP-Riyadh president, said the Absentee Voting Law has opened the door for the participation of overseas Filipinos in good governance, particularly in politics.

One out of Ten filipinos are presently stationed or migrated abroad. They left with them thier families, relatives and friends which represents 60 - 70 percent of the population.

If we put one candidate to represent the OFW in the Senate or Congress, the chances of winning is a landslide.

The following is less serious but true:
"Kadtong dili mo suporta sa PPP, hala suwayi, hagit dili padalhan ug allotment ni Manong ug Manang nga nag trabaho sa abroad. Wala gyud mo madawat nga gasa ining bakasyon".

Wala man gani gi blocked dire sa Saudi nga higpit dire.

Mangita ta ug atong manokon nga mga maayong tawo ato aron atong supportahan under PPP. Ikaw pohon ug gusto ka modagan. So di man ni karon lang, taas ning atong plano.

Dili ko qualified kay wala koy training, experience ug caliber in the field of politics.

Ikaw, ako, kitang tanan nga OFWs & OFs are already proclaimed as "living heros". Ang uban, magpaka hero pa lang.

Mangita ta ug atong manokon nga mga maayong tawo ato aron atong supportahan under PPP. Ikaw pohon ug gusto ka modagan. So di man ni karon lang, taas ning atong plano.

Rald i would say Jun Ayag is the perfect person for that position, ug gusto man gani ta ug honest nga tawo then lets niminate Jun Ayag, how about that?

Jun is known to all OFW's and other global Bol-anon, so why not nominate him instead anang Amay Bisaya! (jeee what can he do???)

The Partido ng Pandaigdigang Pilipino (PPP) may just be the bottom-up initiative that will finally jolt the OFWs from their collective indifference to their political rights as Filipinos.

Five years after the enactment of the Overseas Absentee Voting law, less than 10% of overseas Filipinos have registered themselves with our designated diplomatic outposts.

The lukewarm response may be due to logistical problems--such as the inaccessibility of registration sites and the geographic dispersal of OFWs. Or perhaps simply inadequate dissemination of information. Or sheer apathy, detachment or sense of impotence at the rough-and-tumble of our country's politics.

Personally, I think the lethargic response is due to the fact that Republic Act 9189 (otherwise known as the Overseas Absentee Voting Act) is really a top-down proposition, reeking of the political agenda of our powers-that-be.

I remember that prior to the implementation of this law, Gloria Arroyo, in a state visit to Tokyo, had attempted to appoint her husband Mike Arroyo as the government's roving OFW ambassador, to preside gratis over an inter-agency team that would look after the welfare of OFWs.

This idea was nipped in the bud by howls of protest. It was not only because even at that time, Mike Arroyo had already cast a sinister shadow over his wife, but also because the motive was too blatant for anyone to ignore. It was clearly for the Arroyos to ingratiate themselves with some 10 million Filipinos or 15% of the populace who would soon be enfranchised by the Absentee voting law.

It was clear, even as Arroyo was explaining the bill to Filipinos in Japan, that her concept of OFW needs and concerns did not jibe with what the OFWs in their adopted foreign locales actually feel as their legitimate agenda. For instance, Arroyo kept on praising the virtues of the free-trade deal with Japan and her effort to break new ground in the labor market for nurses and caregivers (talking mostly above the heads of housewives, construction workers and domestics), but skipped the presently gripping issues of abuse of entertainers and trainees, surging domestic violence due to marriages of convenience, and the precarious situation of overstaying Filipinos.

Hopefully, PPP, being the brainchild of the OFWs themselves, will be able to define the OFW's legislative agenda according to our actual needs and concerns.
