Footnote From Vice-Governor Julius Herrera
« on: December 28, 2007, 06:38:29 PM »
The difficulties that the people are facing at present should be an inspiration for them to work harder and to hope for better things to come, declared Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera.

The vice-governor said he is sad when he come across people who have given up hope in the face of the many difficulties at present.

"The difference between people who succeed and those who fail is obvious," he noted.

Herrera said people who succeed are those who are not easily discouraged even when the odds are high while those who fail give up when they ran into difficulties.

"We should not give up because sooner or later things will improve," the vice-governor noted.

According to the vice-governor, people in every nation experience crisis and defeat at certain time in their history.

The reason why those in progressive countries were able to get where they are now is because they refuse to yield to the difficulties of life.

"Look at many countries that went through very painful wars, they are the ones who are moving up and developing," he added.

The vice-governor also pointed out that people in other places face very difficult weather conditions.

He said some have to work in very extreme conditions like freezing cold or under the heat of the sun in the desert.

The vice-governor said the Philippines has not been at war except for the communist insurgency and the Muslim rebellion in the south.

He said these wars are not comparable to the wars in Indochina and Latin America which were very savage and brutal.

Although war is always painful, Herrera said most Filipinos go on with their life as if nothing happened.

He also noted that the weather in the country is ideal compared to the extreme conditions in the desert and cold countries.

Herrera said that being exposed to crisis and difficulties is not exclusive to the Filipinos so they should use these as an inspiration to work harder.

"As we reflect about the meaning of Christmas, let us thank God for our blessings but we should also promise ourselves to work harder and think more positively because that is the only way for us to develop," the vice-governor concluded. -- www.boholsundaypost.net
