The city government of Taguig reimposed its ban against the sale and serving of liquors and other alcoholic drinks in night spots.
Taguig Mayor Freddie R. Tiñga has ordered the city’s Business Permits and Licenses Office (BPLO) to strictly implement the ordinance through constant monitoring.
He clarified that the ordinance does not seek to intervene on business operations, but to curb alcohol-related crimes by regulating the sale and serving of liquors, particularly during unholy hours.
“Extended “happy hours†are now over for restaurants, bars, clubs and similar establishments in Taguig,†Tiñga said.
Tiñga said that after two months of giving leeway to these establishments in view of the Christmas season, City Ordinance No. 36, a local law that imposes curfew on the sale and trade of alcoholic drinks, once again took effect last January 15.
The city government temporarily lifted the said ordinance in November “to give way to the holiday season†which has now lapsed. Businesses now revert to the mandated operating hours. - PNA
