DILG directs LGUs, public to raise PHL flag simultaneously on Sunday
By Christopher Lloyd T. Caliwan

MANILA, June 10 (PNA) -- In observance of the 118th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence, Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday called for the support of all provincial governors and city and municipal mayors to the simultaneous Flag-Raising and Wreath-Laying Ceremonies in places of national significance in their respective areas of jurisdiction at 8 a.m. on June 12, 2016.

“I enjoin local chief executives (LCEs) to coordinate with the local offices of the national government agencies in your areas as well as the private sector and non-government organizations or people's organizations in your places for the Simultaneous Flag-Raising and Wreath-Laying Ceremonies on Sunday,” said Sarmiento.

He also urges local government units (LGUs) to hold other programs and activities appropriate for the occasion such as display of Philippine flag in LGU offices, civic parade, and the likes.

With the theme “Kalayaan 2016: Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong”, the Simultaneous Flag-Raising and Wreath-Laying Ceremonies will concurrently be held in Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, Barasoain Church in Malolos City, Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City, Mausoleo de los Veteranos de la Revolucion in Manila North Cemetery, Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City, Pamintuan House in Angeles City, Cebu City, Davao City, and Quezon City.

“LCEs in the National Capital Region are encouraged to provide ambulances and fire trucks to be stationed in strategic locations at the Rizal Park, Manila during the said event,” said Sarmiento.

On Sunday, there will also be an afternoon program in Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Manila to be highlighted by a flyby of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and military and civic parade at 3 p.m. At 6 p.m., the public may enjoy the sight of fireworks display.

The parade, dubbed as “The Kalayaan 2016 Grand Parade,” will be opened spectacularly by a ten-minute musical dance drama presentation called “Bagong Bayan, Bagong Buhay”.

Aside from the spectacles, Sarmiento said, “Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo such as exhibits, skills demonstration, trade fairs, and government services are there on site at Burnham Green Western Section, Rizal Park, Manila since Friday to Sunday from June 10 to 12 at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.” (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
