The Office of the Ombudsman has found enough grounds to proceed with the criminal and administrative complaint for graft and corruption against Tagbilaran city mayor filed by the Bohol Chronicle Radio Corp.
In an order dated July 10, 2009, The Ombudsman, through graft investigator Samuel Malazarte, directed the Tagbilaran mayor to file his counter affidavit to refute the graft charges against him within ten days from receipt of the order.
The mayor has been charged in the Ombudsman for causing undue injury to an ordinary taxpayer by waging a malicious tax harassment campaign.
He was also charged with violating the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials under Republic Act 6713.
Also similarly charged with the city mayor was the late city treasurer Visitacion B. Acero. However, with the death of Acero, the charges against her are automatically dropped.
The criminal and administrative complaint against the mayor stems from his harassments against a taxpayer, the Bohol Chronicle Radio Corporation. - the bohol chronicle
