The coalition between Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) invoked upon by the Lakas
Bohol Provincial Directorate exists only in 1995, revealed former Lakas Provincial Chairman Erico Aumentado.
Reacting to the insinuations that he knew all along that ex-Governor Rene Relampagos was Lakas choice candidate for Bohol’s first Congressional District over Catigbian Mayor Salinas, Aumentado vehemently denied he had the information ahead.
Showing his evidence, Aumentado, who sat as the Regional Lakas Chairman showed a letter from the Lakas National directorate dated November 24.
It said “with a solid determination to hand in the win for the administrationâ€, Lakas told the governor of its “opening its doors to flexible avenues including the coalition agreementâ€.
The letter also bared that signatories: Congressmen Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes, Adam Relson Jala, former Congressman Eladio Jala and Secretary Arthur Yap, collectively supports the coalition with ex-Governor Rene Relampagos as coalition candidate for Congress in Bohol’s First District.
Himself the former party chairman, Aumentado said he initially run a survey before he relinquished the seat to Chatto for possible Lakas candidates, one he would likely push for adoption by the national directorate.
He also admitted to the media during his weekly media forum at the Mansion that the survey produced Salinas, Aumentado and Yap as leading candidates.
Short of admitting he was shocked upon learning of the possible problems the coalition might create, he said the possible injustice with the neglect of the equity of the incumbent rule.
On this, Aumentado was a bit short in calling the tale spinners, liars.
The issue has already defined a rift in the party, which has resulted in at least three pubic statements from the opposite camps.
The graduating governor also added he would have wanted Lakas Provincial Chairman to call for a meeting to mend the problem. This has yet to happen. (PIA)
