Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jessie Robredo insists that he has no plans to run for senator next year.
Pressed by members of the Iloilo media on his political directions, particularly on being wooed by various groups to run for Senate in 2013, the DILG secretary shrugged the notion as "not on my mind."
Robredo said he does not entertain the idea of running for senator since he is too preoccupied with the current thrust of the DILG.
He said he would rather work on making sure that DILG is focused on its mandate and that the government’s programs are correctly implemented.
He said as DILG chief, he aims to make sure that all local government units (LGUs) are compliant with the various programs of the national government including the need to receive a seal of Good Housekeeping which is a proof of good public service.
Robredo was recently here to attend various functions in the region, as well as lead in the nationwide disaster preparedness caravan of the DILG. He also met with local officials, as well as awarded projects and financial aids to several LGUs in the region.
