We just need to be realistic here. We all knew that corruption is super rampant in our country. Was there anybody being convicted of corruption? Imprisoned?
We all knew that they are corrupt. But to prove them in court is a different story. GMA is also corrupt. Impeachment against her does not work and we all knew the reasons. Do you believed that erap is not corrupt? erap was noted of much wrongdoings as president. although you can say he was not even convicted with the plunder. but in reality he did the plunder. just proving it in court is difficult, as you said, they can thwart the law. The justice system does not work as it meant to be.
Now, both GMA and Erap noted to be corrupt and have wrongdoings as President, You still want erap to be president? What for?
My reply:
If you want to be realistic about corruption either you know it with evidence in your hand or somebody is convicted of the crime of corruption. But if you know about corruption because you read it in our daily newspaper that it is rampant in our country... I will not call that as realistic.
So coming from the horse's mouth you admittedly said that; "to prove them in court is a different story". Therefore if we say that; "Erap is corrupt"... that is only an issue because we have no proof or evidence to show that he is corrupt. Who is telling us that Erap is corrupt? It's the newspaper... and the issue of corruption is part and parcel of the Philippine real politik.
We believe in democracy and one of the freedoms that we have is that; newspaper publishers are free to print and speak of corruption against the government. They are free to take issue of corruption against government bureaucrats and influence public opinion but the last bulwark of our democracy is the law. The proof that a person is corrupt is in a court of law. And in your opinion; "to prove them in court is a different story". Why you said that? Because it's hard to prove the issue of corruption. The evidence is only in the newspaper. To consummate the crime of corruption... it takes two to tango. There must be more than one person committing the crime. The corrupt and the corrupter.
You asked; "Do you believed that erap is not corrupt?" Yes... I believe that he is not and I believe GMA is not and neither Marcos. But I believe that no government in the world is not corrupt. Only a government of angels is free from corruption.
