DAVAO CITY DECLARED AS 'CACAO CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES'
Agriculture Secretary William Dar officially declares Davao City the "Cacao Capital of the Philippines" as it continues to be the top producer of cacao beans for the entire region with total yield reaching 2,289.74 metric tons (MT) last year.
The declaration was made following the consistent production of high-quality beans in the Davao region that has contributed more than 70 percent to the national production.
Davao City—together with Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental — has collectively produced 5,960.23 MT of cacao in 2019.
