LGU BORONGAN GETS ANTI-DRUG ABUSE PERFORMANCE AWARD
Press Release: BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, March 25, 2021 (BCIO) - For providing full support to the country's fight against illegal drugs, Borongan City received the distinguished recognition for an exemplary performance of a city goverment unit, from DILG in a simple ceremony held recently at Stellar Hotel, this city.
Achieving a "HIGH" score, numerically equivalent to 90%, Borongan landed one spot in the country's list of 339 LGU awardees and the province's eight LGUs.
Dubbed "National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award", City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda gladly received the exceptional recognition for the LGU's unwavering support to curb if not eliminate the drug menace, with the untiring operation of the City's Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC.)
The citation that is concretely engraved in a large DILG Glass Marker was presented by the office's Provincial Director, Engr. Visitacion V. Giva to Mayor Agda.
PD Giva said the award was given to Borongan City for the 2018 performance audit with criteria including the holding of regular CADAC meetings, allocation of funds, support to CADAC programs and the implementation of the programs.
For his part, Mayor Agda pointed out that, sometimes, some people need to be recognized for a job well-done. But, he was quick to stress, that an award is just a bonus, because, as state workers, they are expected to execute their individual mandate, and sustaining the honor should even be taken as a greater challenge.
"Awards may just be a bonus point because we are expected to walk the extra miles, based on our respective functions and mandates of our offices," Mayor Agda stressed.
However, in all fairness that he has, Mayor Agda announced to the group, that the credit largely belongs to his predecessor, former city Mayor Maria Fe R. Abunda, being the sitting City Chief Executive, for period covering the perfomance audit.
Borongan has recorded a number of buy-bust operations and and the arrest of wanted persons. #
