Bohol federation of PTAs supports Chatto for Governor
« on: April 11, 2010, 04:26:13 PM »
Rep. Edgar Chatto’s gubernatorial bid has gained wider ground, this time with the support of the Bohol Provincial Federation of Parents – Teachers Associations (BPFPTA).

Not just that, the standard bearer of Lakas-Kampi-CMD drew affection from municipal and barangay leaders in Baclayon for converting their leading public secondary school into a national high school.

The umbrella organization of the PTAs in this province rallied behind Chatto “for we know that one of his priority programs is…the promotion of education.”

The BPFPTA expressed its “strong and unconditional support” to Chatto “for governor” in a resolution passed during the meeting of its officers and board of directors.

The federation cited his education programs that include separate scholarships for the poor but deserving students and the children of barangay officials, support to the schools and assistance to the PTAs.

No singular elected Bohol official has supported and sustained the education of already thousands of students than Chatto, according to sources from the education sector.

The solon has built classrooms and provided other facilities in practically all year levels from preschool to college.

The BPFPTA voiced its choice of Chatto for governor while his political detractors continue to inject malice into his many remarkable contributions to education in Bohol.

Another important program supported by Chatto is the promotion and enhancement of computer literacy and information technology in schools.

Department of Education (DepEd) officials and teachers lamented that there have still been partisan quarters who would charge that the computer units were overpriced.

They said essential instructional and reference softwares and programs in various subjects were installed by experts into the computer system, which explains for the additional cost.

Chatto’s role was only helping the DepEd secure fund for its computer literacy and information technology projects, they asserted.

Chatto poured millions for the construction of a spacious, decent and permanent DepEd-Bohol Division Office building.

To date, many have regarded the creation of the Bohol Island State University (BISU), which has six campuses, as Chatto’s most significant work for Bohol education.

He principally authored the law converting the then Central Visayas State College of Agricultue, Forestry and Technology into BISU, the first and only state university in the province.

The BPFPTA officers said “we know for a fact that the good congressman is very approachable, performing and an awardee of the Lingkod Bayan Award by the Civil Service Commission as most outstanding public servant when he was our vice governor.”

As one prize, the Philippine government raised Chatto’s salary at that time as vice governor equivalent to that of the provincial governor.

No other elected Bohol public official has been conferred such an honor and equaled him in this respect.

                                               THANK CHATTO

The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Baclayon and Barangay Council of Poblacion passed in their joint session a resolution thanking Chatto for converting the Baclayon High School into the Baclayon National High School.

They cited Chatto’s law, Republic Act 9806, which establishes the national high school and provides regular national funds for its operation.  Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed it into law late last year.

“The nationalization of the school will contribute to the general welfare of the teachers, students and the whole community,” according to the joint resolution sponsored by Kag. Erico Joseph Cañete and approved by Mayor Alvin Uy.

The joint session was led by Vice Mayor Marilyn Rubillar Uy, SB presiding officer, and Poblacion barangay captain Jorge Naron.

Chatto nationalized several other schools in Bohol thru his laws in Congress.
