Vice Pres. Binay's name printed on plastic bags with relief goods, photo spreads online
By kalogjak on November 14, 2013 | From barakonews.blogspot.com

We saw this photo in Facebook, of plastic bags containing relief goods with the name of the Vice President Jejomar Binay printed on.

Really, with all the bashing, criticisms and lambasting rounds in the Internet related to several personalities and their behavior towards typhoon Yolanda, (Read: Korina Sanchez vs. Anderson Cooper, CNN) this one takes the cake.

In the photo is VP Jejomar Binay, with his daughter, newly elected Senator Nancy Binay standing far right. If those goods are intended for the victims of the super typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban, then this is just awfully disgusting.

Some say, at least he donated. Some frowned upon the political color Binay is trying to paint amidst the natural disaster where people grieve for their lost loved ones and sources of livelihood.

As of yet, there has been no official statement from VP Binay regarding this matter.

it's either binay and his camp never learn or this is just a renewed release by binay bashers of his previous, if not too old, politicking mistake.

like pnoy, it's time to change his image makers.

their twisted analysis is only turning off the public.  not enough brains there, but much balls for being so thick-faced.

‘EPAL’ BACKLASH:

Binay says he didn’t want his name on relief goods, blames supporter

By Danilo Adorador III

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines â€" Vice President Jejomar Binay is seeing a conspiracy behind the negative posts on social media deriding him as an “epal,” or one who is constantly trying to draw attention to himself.

Vice President Binay has been on the receiving end of social media backlash after photos of relief goods labeled with his name and plastered with the Vice President’s logo became viral. The relief goods are intended for victims of typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan).
Republic Act 8485 (Animal Welfare Act of 1998, Philippines), as amended and strengthened by House  Bill 6893 of 2013--- violation means a maximum of P250,000 fine with a corresponding three-year jail term and a minimum of P30,000 fine and six months imprisonment

Binay admitted the relief goods were donated in his name by a businessman-friend in Iloilo, and had been intended for typhoon-hit Capiz and neighboring areas.

“But I did not instruct my friend to put my name on it,” Binay, who was here Wednesday to inaugurate a housing project by the Surigao del Norte provincial government, told reporters.

“I had no control over the labeling but when I was informed about this, I had them removed.”

Binay claimed that as early as August 2012, his camp has uncovered an “organized” online campaign to soil his image.

He did not name names, but he attributed the supposed online smear campaign to a “potential presidential candidate in 2016.” The goal, according to him, is to derail his presidential ambitionsâ€"something which Binay has admitted.

Incidentally, the same ambition has been cited by netizens as the main factor in his seeming fondness for public attention.

From armed conflict to disasters, Binay has drawn flak for inserting himself and appearing to be swinging on an early campaign mode.

Just last month, netizens blasted Binay for electioneering after photos of his custom-labeled relief goods for Bohol earthquake victims went viral.

He also faced accusations of politicking after he caused public confusion following his announcement that a truce had been reached between government forces and forces loyal to Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chair Nur Misuari.

That announcement turned out to be false and Binay was chided for his unauthorized attempt to discuss a truce with the rebels.

duh.  and we're supposed to believe this?

what a businessman.  he just can't donate in his own name.  it had to be the vice-president's name.  would that binay names this magnanimous and publicity-shy businessman and thank him publicly so that the beneficiaries will know that those good didn't come from the vice-president.

watch out. binay's political strategy seems to be that he presents himself as the underdog.  voters, most of whom come from the c/d sector, identify with the underdog.  remember his powerful statement about his daughter, nancy?  "kawawa si nancy..."  so she made it as senator.
