Senator Manuel Villar jr. has apologized to Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile after he had labelled as the ‘
biggest kangaroo court’ the Senate Committee of the Whole now hearing his case on the alleged ‘double insertion’ in the 2008 National Budget.
Villar personally went to see Enrile in his Senate office to say he was sorry for having tagged the committee of the whole as the
biggest kangaroo court.
Villar told Enrile that it was not his intention to include the person and the leadership of the Senate President when he made such an statement on the convening of the committee of the whole to hear the ‘ethical complaint’ raised by Senator Jamby Madrigal against him on the questionable C5 road expansion project.
Villar explained that he was referring to some members of the committee, particularly, Senator Panfilo Lacson and other members of the Senate ethics committee who were pushing for the Senate inquiry into the said ‘double insertion’ issue.
But Senator Lacson said that Villar should also apologize to all Senators as he has offended them when he called the committee of the whole as the biggest kangaroo court. - PBS
