While other Cabinet officials running for office face an uphill battle, Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap is assured of a congressional seat as he is running unopposed in the third district of Bohol.

Yap is the bet of the administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD.

There was speculation earlier that incumbent third-district Representative Adam Relson Jala or his father, former congressman Eladio Jala, both members of the Lakas-Kampi, would challenge Yap. But Representative Jala, who is still eligible for reelection, filed his CoC for vice governor a few minutes before the deadline at midnight Tuesday.

The elder Jala, currently assistant secretary at the Department of Transportation and Communications, was rumored to have been offered a post at the Securities and Exchange Commission, but he has declined to issue any statement on the matter.

I dont think they will give-up their post without a fight or anything in return....naa sab gud na silay pride.

Pero kon ako sab ang politician, nganong maghago paman ko'g pangurakot kon naa nay motunol nako...di pa mahago... ???hehehe

maayo unta tog nag-kontra para hutdanay ug kwarta. gikan ra man pud sa atong mga katawhan, share naman.

si cajes, kabalo siguro to sya nga way makwarta sa vice-governor's office mao nag-mayor na lang nya gipalansad as congressman si judith. hehehe

Please pardon my ignorance on this topic. Is Arthur Yap from Bohol ? I feel bad that not a single pure Boholano from that area challenged him.

Bohol is being positioned to be the rice bowl of the Visayas, with rice self-sufficiency now reportedly exceeding 100%. If Arthur Yap's government and private network will enhance Bohol's agricultural productivity and bring more investments in the agro industry, I don't mind voting him even if he is only a Boholano by affinity. I can even forget that his name has also been tarnished by the fertilizer scandal. With both the labor-intensive tourism and agriculture finding champions that will ensure Bohol will be on the national legislative agenda, I believe Bohol's star will continue to rise.
