The Office of the First Gentleman warns concerned local government units in Bohol at the brink of falling prey to a con artist offering to facilitate immediate release of funding assistance in exchange of a monetary consideration.
First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo issued the warning after receiving reports that a certain Jericho Gamulo had tried to convince some mayors that he could facilitate speedy release of their respective special allotment release orders (SARO) in exchange of a certain amount of money.
In transacting with the mayors, Gamulo allegedly claimed to be a close aide of the First Gentlemen.
The First Gentleman, however, denied having known Jericho Gamulo and said he “never authorized anyone to represent him in any government or non-government transactionsâ€.
The First Gentleman’s chief of staff, Jurius Umali-Soliman, sent a communication to Governor Erico Aumentado and Mayors Telesforo Balagosa of Lila, Roberto Salinas of Catigbian, Simplicio Maestrado Jr. of Sierra-Bullones, Fanuel Cadelinia of Bilar, Gregoria Pepito of Batuan and Dan Lim of Tagbilaran City, informing them of Gamulo’s racket of misrepresenting the Office of the First Gentleman.
Soliman had also furnished National Bureau of Investigations Director Nestor Mantaring and Assistant Director Pedro Bulaong a copy of the communication. - Sunday Post
