Outgoing congressman Edgar Chatto may, after all, keep his throne in the first district within the family.

The newly merged administration party Lakas-CMD-Kampi is eyeing his wife Pureza as candidate for the first district as the positioning for next yearâ€™s elections has to be finalized with the deadline for filing of candidacy on November 30 inches closer.

In the initial meeting of Bohol administration party leaders held in Manila last September 25 with President Arroyoâ€™s political adviser Gabriel Claudio, the â€œPureza for Congressmanâ€ idea came up as an option for congressman Chatto if in case his gubernatorial plan changes.

Governor Erico Aumentado, who is the Lakas-CMD-Kampi concurrent party provincial and regional committee chairman said that in the discussions for a mode in the elimination process to select the official candidate for governor, if the outcome tilts in favor of another aspirant, Vice Gov. Julius Herrera, Congressman Chattoâ€™s wife will be offered the seat to be vacated by her husband.

But if Chatto gets the official nomination, Herrera will likewise have to switch as candidate for congressman in the first district. -Bohol Standard

Pureza is out of the picture. Sa pagka karon mao ni ang gibalita nga modagan for Congressman sa First District: Ernesto Herrera (fomer Labor secretary and elder brother of Julius); Rene Relampagos; Dr. Cesar Tomas "Yul" Lopez; and Roberto Salinas. The last three are Loonanons, as is Pureza (of the Veloso Clan from Barangay Napo). BertSal is currently mayor of Catigbian and Bohol LMP president. Rene and Yul are first cousins. BertSal allegedly backed out recently. Rene may give way for Yul or vice versa, depending on support from the masa. It can be recalled that Yul, a Provincial Board first-termer, topped the elections in 2007 (Sangguniang Panlalawigan) despite being on the opposition ticket. In the First District he topped in all towns including Tagbilaran; except in Balilihan where he ranked only 4th. Obviously, there was manipulation here. Yul was able to amass more than 50,000 votes over the next in rank. In Bohol, this lead is already considered very significant. Of the contenders, Yul is likely a winner if ever he runs for Congress.

kung mao na sila ang manglansad ug dayon, ari nalang ko ni yul lopez. i don't him that much but murag maayo man siguro ni nga tawo. being the mayor of loon for quite sometime and currently a board member, i can see 1st district is still in good hands.

if ever ernesto herrera runs for congress, that could only mean that the younger julius is also running for governor. in that case, the safest assumption is that chatto will be supporting rene or yul. it may be recalled that chatto was rene's vice-governor for two terms, i.e., before rene was defeated as gov and chatto became congressman of first district.

will rene or yul support chatto???.....it may be recalled also that chatto dumped rene infavor for erico during the 2001 election

tinoud ni, nat? i heard erico is more comfortable supporting a herrera candidacy for governor cause chatto dumped erico in favor of rene but erico won in calape.

Chatto, however, is already assured of winning in vote-rich Loon not because of his Loon connection (Pureza, and an aunt who married a Relampagos), but because his influence is deeply rooted in the town's barangays owing to the many projects thereat that he had supported financially from his pork barrel. Chatto will eventually become governor of Bohol, and he will remain generous to Loon even if the town's leaders are not of the Administration.

i doubt if eddie will lost in the 1st disctrict. if someone wanted to become a governor of bohol, they should at least make their fight in the 2nd and 3rd districts. now if eddie's running mate is ondoy cajes, then they can get a substantial vote in the 2nd district. and if eddie did truly supported don enrico in 2001 then quite sure eddie will 1st and 2nd district. for me, the fight will be in the 3rd and this were it help determine who's going to succeed don enrico in the provincial capitol.

Nakagamot na pag-ayo si Chatto sa Loon. Even sa last three elections, bisag og dili partymates ang mga Lopez/Relampagos ug si Chatto, midaug gihapon ang naulahi sa Loon, with very wide margins at that. Sa papel ra man gud ning party affiliation in the case of Chatto ang the Lopezes. Kon walay election, they are very supportive of each other. They have to for obvious reasons.

i agree. the fight will be in the 3rd district. although cesar is rumored to be thinking of balite as runningmate, sa pinulongan pa ni KP, wa jud na kagamot si balite sa 3rd district bisan kapila na na sya galansad-lansad didto.
